Everything work perfectly.
The only odd thing was when WMP11 was run for the first time, it ask to validate Windows. Previous pre-SP3 WMP11 did not ask for validation.
Now if TC can sort out the MCE mess, HFSlip would be perfect.

I thought about the wbemoc fix again today and wasn't really satisfied with it. It was too complex, so instead I made a cab package that's supported directly by HFSLIP (1.7.6rc9 or higher) if placed in the HFCABS folder. This is just one file instead of two files compared to the HFTOOLS plugin, and the package is a lot smaller too now (5.14KB).
Sorry for all this messing but I want to keep it as simple as possible for the user.
In case you're wondering... There aren't any functionality changes between the plugin I released yesterday and the HFCABS package that's available now. The only difference is that I added a blank line above the [Strings] header in the English wbemoc.inf files because it was glued to the other content, but that's only a cosmetic fix.
By the way... No one explicitly mentioned this so I need to ask: is everything OK now if nLite is used afterwards?

I just ran final RC9 with IE7 and KB947864. Both are slipstreamed correctly without any problems. MU does not report KB947864.
As for LegitCheckControl, make sure you download the very latest. I have MU reporting that as well until I re-download the latest iteration of KB905474.

Can someone direct me to the list of things that I should include when slipstreaming sp3 to have complete up to date installation? I have been searching for it, maybe it is somewhere, but I cannot find it. I have been doing slipstreaming with previous versions of HFSLIP but for SP2 and now I would also try to do it with SP3 and I don't want to do something wrong. Thanks in advance for any help.

I notice HFSLIP also copies hidden and system files to my cd. However hidden files and system files normally should not be processed, as thumbs.db and other stuff could get copied.
These files show up when the 'dir /a-d' in combination with the '/s' parameter. A quick fix is to use 'dir /a-d-h-s /s' instead. I hope it get fixed for next version.

I have a perplexing error.
I saw the latest post-SP3 dynamic update list from TC, so I decided to re-slipstream according to that list. Attached is the log.
Now, OE is broken, with a error message that msoe.dll cannot be initialize. Can anybody verify this?
Another thing. If I DO NOT add the WMP11 updates or IE7 KB938127, MU does not show it anyway, which beg the question, is these updates necessary, or is MU "broken"?

Well, I narrow it down to 3 possibilities.
1. One of the updates broken OE.
2. HFSlip broke OE.
3. Corrupt source files.
Right now, I cannot solve 2, so I am reslipstreaming from a virgin source of XP, with SP3 first, then HFSlip without IE7, and see if this solve the error. Then again with IE7 to see if the error will crop out.

Well, so far I ran HFSlip again on a virgin source, but without IE7 and the 2 IE7 updates, and voila, OE6 appear unharmed.
When I re-ran with IE7 again, OE6 get busted again.
Right now, I am re-running HFSlip on newly downloaded IE7 and IE7 Updates again, and on a different machine to boot. If the symptom is consistent, then it would appear that IE7 is the culprit here.
Keep an open mind. I will keep posting on the results.

I have written my own implementation of the REPLACE source file feature, which skips any hidden, system or files inside directories starting with a dot (unix implementation of hidden files), useful if using HFSLIP with Subversion
New code (line 511):
CODE
FOR /F "DELIMS=" %%i IN ('DIR/B/A-D-H-S/S REPLACE ^| findstr /C:"\\\." /V') DO (
SET FULLREPLACEPATH=%%i
SET REPLACEPATH=!FULLREPLACEPATH:%cd%\REPLACE\=!
SET REPLACEPATH=!REPLACEPATH:%%~nxi=!
XCOPY /RSY "%%i" "SOURCESS\!REPLACEPATH!"
)
I think any file processing script should skip hidden and system files by default. I hope this feature can be added to HFSLIP main feauture.
Original:
CODE
ECHO/>REPLACE\DUMMYDUMMYDUMMY.TXT
FOR /F "DELIMS=" %%I IN ('DIR/B/A-D/S REPLACE') DO IF NOT "%%~nI"=="DUMMYDUMMYDUMMY" SET REPLACEFILES=1
DEL/Q/F REPLACE\DUMMYDUMMYDUMMY.TXT
IF DEFINED REPLACEFILES ECHO.&XCOPY/SHRY REPLACE SOURCESS
ECHO.

I notice the Microsoft KB925876 update adds an RunOnce command to uninstall previous Remote Desktop Connection clients. As HFSLIP already handles the Remote Desktop update integration it is probably not necessary to run this command.
What's even worse is that this command is executed for each newly created user account. Something I don't want to happen.
Can you fix this for next release?

HFSLIP no longer replaces mstsc.exe directly. If you can tell me with absolute certainty that old Terminal Services clients aren't installed because of this, and that they aren't installed via another way (registry hives, etc.), I may consider having HFSLIP remove the uninstall command.
By the way... If you're using XP SP3 this shouldn't be a concern as it already comes with TSC 6.0.
But I see your point on this being done for each user account. I'll see if I can relocate the command to HKLM.

I normally don't use the RDP client, but while testing KB925876 update mstsc.exe is not replaced by the newer lhmstsc.exe file. This results in that the RDP client fails loading on Windows XP SP2.
fix:
hfslip 1.7.6 changes (line 1980)CODE
ECHO>>WORK\HFSLIPCMDP1.TXT IF EXIST %%SYSTEMROOT%%\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE\mstsc.exe DEL/Q/F %%SYSTEMROOT%%\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE\mstsc.exe
ECHO>>WORK\HFSLIPCMDP1.TXT COPY/Y %%SYSTEMROOT%%\SYSTEM32\lhmstsc.exe %%SYSTEMROOT%%\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE\mstsc.exe
ECHO>>WORK\HFSLIPCMDP1.TXT DEL/Q/F %%SYSTEMROOT%%\SYSTEM32\mstsc.exe
ECHO>>WORK\HFSLIPCMDP1.TXT REN %%SYSTEMROOT%%\SYSTEM32\lhmstsc.exe mstsc.exe

The problem I had with the busted OE6 was due to corrupt source.
Now, everything seems to slipstream properly and nothing busted.
However, when I run MU, I am prompted to up KB 898461. It looks like I am not t the only one reporting this anomaly. I also get one High Priority update which is KB 942763. Putting these two files in the HF folder do nothing. HFSlip does not slipstream/integrate these two updates, and I still be prompted to update these 2 updates.

Regarding KB898461, I let WU install it to see what would happen. WU then asked for a roots update that appears to be from May.
Roots Update. This is with SP3, IE7 and hotfixes from the dynamic SP3 list. I am not 100% sure, but I believe this only happened after I started using the latest WU agent. I think the previous version of WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe worked fine, WU did not ask for KB898461. I think I still have the old version and will test.
Edit: WU does ask for KB898461 using the previous version of WU Agent. I did use the roots update I linked to and WU does not for that after installing KB898461.

You can also use the
regular link for the roots update.
What's weird is that this one is only a few days older than the previous one (December 2007), the time stamp is from March 2008, and they only started pushing it through Windows Update now. Must be something special if it needs to go through 5 months of validation...
