I have downloaded the UPHClean-Setup.msi and placed it in the HF folder also MSICabExtract.exe and MSICabExtract.txt are in the HFTOOLS folder. After running HFSLIP_60401.CMD the SOURCESS i386 folder has UPHClean.MSI (not spelled right due to being elsewhere from work space). After installing HFSLIP XP Pro ISO the UserProfile Cleanup service nor the Folder under Program Files directory exists. Anyone else experience this?
Camarade_Tux
I.

I just finished an iso with updated hotfixes so I'll try to run it manually at T-12 and see how it goes.

You're the second person to report this in two days so I checked it out and you're right-- it's not installed (on WinXP SP2).

To be honest, I never really checked the HFSLIP implementation. I also didn't touch that code. I used to use a silent installer a few months ago (which worked) until I noticed a couple of lines in the HFSLIP code indicating that HFSLIP handles it too. So I placed UPHClean-Setup.msi in HF from then on but I can't remember ever checking if it worked.

I changed the code that handles UPHClean a bit. The most important change is that it now uses the switches that I was using back then inside the silent installer: /qn /norestart.

See HFSLIP_60417-rc3 in the Test releases thread.

If this doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. HFSLIP now mimicks what I was doing "manually" in the past (also through SVCPACK) so it just has to work.

BTW... You don't need MSICabExtract for UPHClean. It's not being extracted by HFSLIP.

Note: UPHClean cannot be installed at T-13 for Windows 2000. I use a silent installer which has Windows install it at first logon. Also, I never tested UPHClean on Windows XP SP1; only SP2.

Cool, downloaded the new release and will give it a try tonight
Camarade_Tux
I was curious so I ran UPHClean.msi /q at T-12 with WIHU.
It installed correctly, the service was present.

I'll try rc3 asap.

So what's the verdict? tongue.gif

It's possible to watch the full season 4 of Scrubs, to eat carots, mushrooms and radishs with Nutella, in one night (in fact, eating the mushroom was not possible).

Sorry for the delay. No luck so far, it still will not show up. Am trying again tonight.
Tomcat76
Maybe Microsoft no longer allow it. I'm now working on getting it compatible with Win2K but I'll let the same thing be done for WinXP too for a while to see if it fixes the problem. You can expect a new test release by tomorrow or so.
Camarade_Tux
Of course, I forgot to add it to the list of updates.

I think I'll add it by hand in SVCPACK.
Or do you prefer me to run HFSlip again ?
Super-Magician
It would be better to run HFSLIP again, just to make sure.

But, if you want to do it manually, make sure you also uncompress SVCPACK.IN_ in SOURCESS\I386, add UPHClean.msi to SVCPACK.INF with the right switches, and then compress it again.
Tomcat76
The latest test version of HFSLIP (60420b) supports UPHClean for Windows 2000. If you're still having problems with it on Windows XP, I'll unlock this new "backdoor" for Windows XP too.
Camarade_Tux
Ok. I'll have to make a new iso anyway because last one was buggy.
mystek
Tried it on XP and still no go. Please unlock the backdoor.
Tomcat76
I changed the handing of UPHClean in version 60421a. It's still being installed at T-13 but I'm calling MSIEXEC to the rescue. I wanna try this one before moving on to the "backdoor" for Win2K.

I'm going to test this one myself too because there's a final version due later this evening.
Camarade_Tux
I just made a new iso with UPHClean slipstreamed.
What should I change to get the same behavior as 60421a ?
Only rename UPHClean and edit svcpack.inf ?

edit : in fact, I should use msiexec /i uphclean.msi
No ?
Tomcat76
I tested it and it's working in 60421a and 60421b.

If you want to do it manually....

1) UPHCLEAN.MSI should be in SOURCESS\I386\SVCPACK
2) Remove the line installing UPHCLEAN from SVCPACK.INF
3) Add this into HFSLIP.CMD below the line that defines %HFSLIP%:

msiexec /i %HFSLIP%\SVCPACK\UPHCLEAN.MSI /qn /norestart

You can try msiexec /i UPHCLEAN.MSI /qn /norestart from SVCPACK.INF but I don't know if it'll work.

Tomcat76, tried the build HFSLIP_60421b and the install worked great. UPHClean installed. Thanks for the great work.

You're welcome smile.gif
