If anyone wants these, here are the MD5 checksums of all English Windows XP SP2 hotfixes/updates, placed in HF, as listed on Tomcat76's WinXP SP2 update page with all applicable options selected.

It seems like a good thing to have posted although it would probably be more useful it were somehow integrated into the stickied lists that we already have. But we have lots of stickied posts already...man, this forum is getting sticky!

I was wondering if anyone uses the_guy's lists anymore...Tomcat's seem to get the most attention since he has his neato wizard-y page.

Hi Super-Magician. I think I was the one who requested having a list of hotfixes' checksums. I find this really useful as I always refer to this whenever there are new hotfixes.
But I do agree though that it would be better and easier if this is integrated to the official HFSLIP hotfixes listing here: http://www.msfn.org/board/Windows-XP-SP2-updates-and-hotfixes-t62177.html and here: http://users.telenet.be/tc76/winup/_winxp.html
But with multi-tabbed browsing, there's not much of a problem having the checksums on a different page... smile.gif

glentium: I discussed the idea with Tomcat, and at this point, he doesn't feel there is too much of a need for it. In addition, the tables in his website lists are already very wide.

I do!! I simply prefer incremental listings by date.
I also prefer key lime pie, better operating systems than windows, delightful music (old or new), and complex plotlines.

a downloadable md5 file for every HF folder on that list would suffice. no need to put that actual md5 checksums beside the updates. an md5 file would even make it easier to check our files as there would be no need to check on the page to compare checksums. an md5 file checker, like md5summer, would do the checking by itself.

I think it's nice that the_guy's lists have a completely different approach to mine. Some people prefer it one way, some the other. I wouldn't remove them.

My lists on this forum don't need to be here, but TommyP prefers to see them here too.

I tried many times to redownload WindowsXP-KB904706-v2-x86-ENU.exe but we still do not match md5 checksum... can you please verify WindowsXP-KB904706-v2-x86-ENU.exe?

Although my list is slightly different, the only other differing MD5 is for MP10Setup.exe, this may however be down to different versions, of that file. (mine is Product Version 10.00.00.3646)

@Yzöwl, I have a newer version of WMP10 in my folder so that's probably why it's different. I believe the most recent is 10.00.00.3802.

I guessed as much, it's been a while since I updated mine. I only mentioned it because without checking the product versions, people with perfectly good MP10setup.exes may think theirs is corrupted.

All right, I figured out what the problem is with KB904706.

It seems MS released a silent update to the package or something. I downloaded my copy in October 2005.

Actually, it seems I completely forgot to update my HFSLIP folder! I just checked and sure enough, I still had last month's batch of fixes!

I've added the optional updates KB914440 (Network Diagnostic Tool), KB902344 (Update for DRM-enabled media players), and KB891122 (required for KB902344) to the list.

They may be removed at a later time if deemed unnecessary for installation. You may ignore them if you wish.

There are 2 versions of 902344. 1 for normal XP (use with wmfdist95.exe from 891122) and 1 for XP MCE (use with wmfdist95.exe from 900325).

I don't think KB924191 should be removed. It's a hotfix for Microsoft XML Parser 2.6 (all versions) and Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 (all versions). MS06-071 says that KB927978 and KB927977 (replacements for KB925672 and KB925673) applies to Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 and 6.0.
But then, that's how I understand MS06-071... I may be wrong.
Also, I think 918899 is replaced by the latest cumulative update for IE (MS06-067)

You are absolutely right about KB918899. In fact, I'll be removing all those IE updates in a few days because they only apply to IE6 for now!

I'm not sure about KB924191. MS06-071 (KB928088) says that it replaces MS06-061, which is KB924191.

I believe MS06-061 contains updates for MSXML3 (KB924191), MSXML4 (KB925672) and MSXML6 (KB925673) while MS06-71 (KB928088) contains updates for MSXML4 (KB927978) and MSXML6 (KB927977) only, according to FAQ section of MS06-071. Moreover, KB924191 contains MSXML3 binaries which are neither in KB927978 nor KB927977...

Since Tomcat advised us to remove MSXML3, I have a feeling it's no longer needed, but I may be wrong.

I advised to remove the standalone msxml3.msi. You should use the KB924191 hotfix for MSXML3 for your OS.
