rolleyes.gif I have two computers. One is running Windows XP Pro and is online. The other is running Windows 98SE and does not go online. I want to store files, pictures etc. on the Windows 98SE computer.
I have a Scandisk cruzer mini 256 MB.
I went to the scandisk website and downloaded the driver for Windows 98.
When I click on the setup file, the following message appears and I can't load it
{ error installing ikernel.exe (0X10000) }
Don't know what to do now
Any ideas??

Use the generic USB driver ("Maximus-Decim Native USB") in the Unofficial Service Pack subforum.

Thank you very much.
It works great.

If you read the Sandisk site very carefully, you'll see that they don't support 98 at all.
The drivers are for 98/SE only.

I have purchased several Sandisk thumbdrives since they first appeared in the local Staples (office supply) store. I just got another Cruzer Micro 512 for $29 with a $12 rebate.

Windows 98 had such minimal USB support that even with the Sandisk drivers, it still won't work with the Cruzer Micro drive.

Upgrade to 98/SE and install the Unofficial Service Pack and all will be well with the world. thumbup.gif

Cheers!

I do have windows 98SE. I downloaded the drivers from Scandisk but it didn't work. I download the driver from the Unofficial Service pack forum and that worked thanks to LLXX.

This is a error within the installer, not the driver itself.

There are two drivers from Sandisk.
The Mini driver and the Micro driver.

If you got the Mini driver, it will not work with a Micro drive.
The micro driver, however, will work fine on a Mini drive.

I have both types of drives and I use them on 98/SE machines all the time after installing the Micro driver and rebooting the system.

I'm glad you got your little drive working, but you shouldn't have had to go outside for a special driver.

Congrat's! thumbup.gif
