i tried out America's Army a few months ago and i didn't really like it. you could practically kill a person with 1 hit from a sniper and there was other stuff that i didn't like about it. Also, note that the game is made by the US Army

I just downloaded it and started to play... Some things are user-unfriendly though. Like you need to type the name of a weapon to swith to it next round but wathever, nive game for being free!

This game is not new, it has been around since about July 2002 iirc...... I been playing since Christmas day 2002, I remember it well cos I burnt the christmas dinner inbetween games.... oh the wife was furious with me!! and have been hooked on it ever since.

The bandwidth allowance isn't brilliant for downloading directly from their site, although I did find a better link by Googling the game. Completely different to America's Army as it's a racing game, but some lovely graphics and a track editor are shoved into this awesome online racing game. Worth a look if you fancy racing games.

If you're FPS fans, try Nexuiz (alientrap.org) or Cube (cubeengine.org). Nexuiz is an Unreal Tournament-style arena multiplayer game, all free, all open-source. Cube (and its promising successor, Sauerbraten) is more like a classic Quake shooter with some mind-bogglingly hard levels. Hard as in "Here are 50 monsters. They want to kill you. Here are 5 bullets. You shoot things with them. Here's a rubber ducky. You can maybe try to use it as armor somehow if you're really creative. Have a nice day. Bye."

Nex is great fun at LAN parties and scales quite well. You can run it with very basic visuals for older hardware, or enable some really cutting-edge stuff including the HDR feature that everyone's been talking about with regard to Half Life 2...apparently really good, not much of a gamer myself so I don't know.

The online translators really aren't that great after all. Are there any Japanese volunteers who are willing to download MindArms and create an English Manual?

I used to play AA all the time. I belonged to the [6th] Marines, but our company (the AA clan) was disbanded. Due to other interests, I uninstalled the game.

Another free FPS game is Truecombat: Elite (www.truecombatelite.net) wich is based in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territry (also free).

Personally I wish I could be an advisor on the development team or whatever they call them selfs and help them get a wider audience.

The problem with the game it is a simulator and to be honest I feel like a loser when I play a simulator sometimes. Like growing crops, building theme parks, and playing football. I mean Simulators is really nice at what they do but simulating is war is so boring for a person who wants some fun and not another lecture about how and why we should do things.

Also they took out alot of stuff which they use to train people on the base (whatever pryimids thingies).
You are not really missing anything with this game but otherwise checkout still.

Another game in relations to this is "Bio-Terrorism" a gba game which use a Metal Slug Game Engine. really nice but again a simulator.
