I got the drivers from yamaha my specs are below.
Do you have the orginial Drivers disk, if so revert back to them, if possiable. If not, then you need to look at your YAMAHA chip and id the series on the chip.
It was woking fine i just upgraded my MOBO from a VIA kt600.

Heh, I was just about to suggest that.
Disable the onboard audio + game Port + midi port as their will be IRQ fighting unfortuately unless you do. Once you do that you can run multiple sound cards without a problem through PCI. The gameports should work without problems on your soundcards as well.
The onboard audio you have is probably manufactured by realtek. Persoanlly not a fan of them due to how poor it functions. I have an 8ch realtek built into my board but there is absolutely no built-in amplification and I cannot use it for legacy gaming either. I run passive speakers so... my yamaha is almost a requirement for sound.
For gameport use for legacy gaming however, if that still doesn't work out there are other ways. If the legacy games do not notice a USB pad\stick then you can use a lil program called 'JOY-TO-KEY' which converts joystick inputs into keyboard inputs. I use it to use my ps2 controller to play games like doom and heretic right now. works like a dream.
Also your sb live 5.1 should be recognized. Using the same card for mine right now for legacy gaming through a dos window. Try taking something like a pencil eraser and rubbing clean the contacts on your card. Usually does the trick for cards that aren't being detecteddue to dirty contacts. Have you tries using the modded drivers by NGO? The download may say 2k/XP only but it contains the INF's for 9x systems. Use the 'gaming' driver-set for the card and you'll be off without trouble.
If you decide to use them both and the yamaha doesn't play midi\sound with dos game, disable the yamaha's legacy sound system and reboot. Then make sure the soundblaster is set to use IRQ5 .. if not then you'll have to physically swap places of both sound cards (after a shutdown of course) on the board then check again after boot. Once thats set you just have to select the sb live as both primary playback and primary midi (ms synth) to play sound\midi with legacy games.

You may want to check the BIOS > Advance Settings > GAME PORT.
Then Disable it in Windows > Device Manager.
My sister has a A7N8X Deluxe board. Found that to be the culpuit.
As far the SoundBlaster Live, check the pins, and check to ensure that the on-board Sound is disabled.
