Hoping someone could help me. I’m running a windows 98se operating system. For some reason about 99.9% of all my media/audio players freeze when I try to play a video or song. I’m not exactly sure why this is happening.

Every other part of my computer system seems to be running fine. For example I can watch videos on youtube but can’t watch a downloaded file on realplayer or windows media. Also I can listen to streaming audio on myspace/music but can’t on limewire or sonicstage.

It’s extra crappy because everytime my players freeze I have to shut down the computer by pressing the power button on my desktop.

Clean the cooling system and ensure it's not overheating.

Also, a reinstall of DirectX may be needed.
