This is a placeholder for the next target on the market: Windows Vista

Come back in a few weeks to get a nice list of critical hotfixes...

There's already a couple vista security updates: KB890830 and KB905866. Is this topic going to be stickied?

Is that the whole list of updates that I need for Vista? It seems awfully long. Are you sure there are no redundant updates included in that list?

USB Rollup Update.
KB941600 - Cumulative update rollup for USB core components in Windows Vista
Oct. 2, 07 - 417kb

Replaces many previous usb fixes.
Dobby
Can anyone tell what the update rollups are for? I'm trying to figure out a way to search the update catalog without getting 1000 hits back (did they actually get anyone to test this bloomin' thing before they released it?). If I search for 'Vista Critical' or 'Vista Rollup' I get a single page of results which is much easier to handle but I need to know does this cover everything or is there a better way? I saw the hotfixshare too but it doesn't seem like a very efficient way to get updates.

We have had hotfixes almost as long as we've had Windows. Why have they not got a decent solution yet?!

UPDATE: Actually I've just looked at the rollups and bar a few exceptions it's mainly the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool so I guess that's a no!
Dobby
Just came across this. Looks like a nicely ordered list and sensible options for selecting architecture type. What would be better still would be a direct link to the download or maybe some way to add it to the Windows Update Catalog list.

And why the hell do you have to validate every single download. Have they heard of cookies (probably not secure enough I know but they could have a login or something and just periodically ask for validation or something.)

Thanks for the update... One of our "Big Boss" insisted to get is new computer (a simple Dual Quad Xeon with RAID10 of 15K SAS drives... looks like a virtualization server to me!) with Vista 64-Bits.

I must tell you that I have big problem on this computer with USB ports (not to mention Vista trouble + the 64-Bits variant).

Upon now, I had previously found KB937187_x64 which somehow kind of solved the problem but it is still shaky...

Darn Vista. On some computer, no problemo at all and on others only troubles...

Is there a website where I can simply download the updates instate of download all the updates by hand (and I don't mean the Microsoft update website)?

Not sure if this is helpful to y'all, but it's my list of critical hotfixes I maintain for Vista 32 and Vista x64 that I insert into my install.wim. I didn't see any current list in here. Hopefully it's easy enough for you to figure out how I have everything listed for my needs.

These two lists will include any hotfix that shows up in the windows updates site after you freshly install Vista 32 or Vista 64.

I did see that, maybe I'm not understand exactly what the MUP is.

Why install all of those updates versus the ones that are recommended from the MS update site?

- keep in mind, I've generally been reading the unattended XP forum and I'm new to Vista.

I can read what it is. I visited the MUP thread before I posted here in this thread for the first time.

Let me ask my question in a different way than I did in my last post.

Why would I want to install 300 updates versus the 40 security updates?
