4.12.1 really sucks - Daemon Tools is getting worse and worse these days.
johndoe74 can you consider to release a Daemon-Tools addon 4.10 with SPTD 1.55?
johndoe74

i hate the later versions myself. i'll definitely do a 4.10 with 1.55 addon but gimme till this weekend to do it.

Cool. And while on it, I think it's nice to put in some tweaks/mods about the on, such as not adding the Daemon-Tools desktop icon, enable all emulations by default or even disable auto-run every Windows log-on - they are all small things but would set the software to a better config.

updated v4.10 addon to SPTD v1.56. other changes:
removed spyware/adware/malware/crapware
daemon tools prevented from opening at startup
desktop shortcuts removed
control panel -> add/remove programs entry added (and hopefully working)

updated to 4.12.2 with SPTD 1.56. in addition to the usual removal of spyware/adware/malware/crapware, daemon tools is now prevented from opening at startup, desktop shortcuts have been removed and entry added to add/remove programs (hopefully working).
radix's autoit script retained although modified even further

My
script prevent browser opening, but if you are connected to internet, Daemon Tools will download the add-on (SRSAI.exe). Tested in Windows. In RunOnceEx the connection is not configured and the problem doesn't exist.

Sorry JD74,
I think It's still doing it only the cmd box is showing on the screen with c:\windows\Daemon\dt4122.exe. And at the same time in my vm window the nic card is showing as communicating the same time as the cmd window for appx. 30 to 60 seconds. When I take the daemon tools out this does not happen, so somewhere it is triggering the net to call home.
Thanks

Click to view attachmentnobody promised to make dt stop calling home or wherever it is calling. we cannot do that, only the developers of the program can do that and you can do that - by bring offline while installing windows. the least radix and i could do was to prevent the downloaded crapware from installing and spreading so what you're seeing is intentional.
compared to what else could happen if you have a live connection while installing windows, the dt crapware is nothing. you could get infected by viruses, trojans and who knows what else, you could even get hacked as your PC is at its most vulnerable during that time! so try to be offline while installing windows and you won't see any weird stuff happening

Interesting. Some people have direct connection to internet. My cousin have an old PC which don't need to install drivers for ethernet card. He had direct connection to internet (no need to configure, no password). So this guy when install Windows is connected to internet if is not smart enough to unplug the cable.

as a case in point, xpsp2 has a built in firewall, right ? as a rule, shouldn't it have stopped a new/unknown program from connecting to the internet and downloading a second program - SRAI.exe? well it didn't, did it ? and who knows what that program could have downloaded had it been written that way. and that firewall, lousy as it may be at stopping outgoing connections, is even lousier at stopping incoming connections. so always be offline when installing windows

updated to v4.12.3. Still using
radix's autoit script with a few minor modifications of my own.
starting with v4.12.3, i've changed the addon a bit as in I've split SPTD from the main DaemonTools addon to make updating one or the other easier so
please include either the x64 or the x86 SPTD addon when integrating the DaemonTools addon otherwise it won't work. The DaemonTools addon is the same/common now whether you're installing on 32 or 64 bit windows
The SPTD addon installs from SVCPACK and the DaemonTools from RUNONCE so it doesn't matter which addon you add first but you have to add both for it to work as intended

Note to Windows 2000 users: Use the older 4.10 version, the newer 4.12.3 version doesn't install silently.
The latest version throws up a box asking you to choose a language, almost certainly indicating that the cause is that the autoit script isn't compatible with Win2K.

Tragically no, it remains open waiting for user input and as I force a reboot (due to installing a heap of stuff via RunOnce) it doesn't install at all.

Try to change the Func Adlib on the botom of the script with the next code:
CODE
Func _Adlib()
; Please select a language.
If WinExists("DAEMON Tools Lite 4.12.3", "Please select a language.") Then
WinActivate("DAEMON Tools Lite 4.12.3", "Please select a language.")
Send("{ENTER}")
EndIf
EndFunc
Works in Windows XP.

SPTD is definitely installed, if I run \daemon\dt123.exe and complete the installation manually, Daemon Tools works.

In my case DaemonTools tries to install itself in German (my native language) - therefore your AutoIt-script doesn't work, because I think it's expacting english windows
Maybe you can post your AutoIt source-code so that I can recompile it myself?

Thanks a lot for your work! I will try this out ASAP.
One question: you call daemontools.exe with the paramter "/S", so that it should show no window - how could you capture window-text? Is the window there but only invisible?
And, another question (if there's no silent-switch available): is it possible to prevent ANY window from appearing on the screen? Or maybe simply move it outside the desktop (maybe at position 2000x1500) and capture all clicks there?
I tried to understand how your SFX-file that I downloaded right before (daemontools-4123-lite.exe) works - but with no success yet

I see two files inside: daemon4123-lite.exe and dt4123.exe. When I open this one big file (daemontools-4123-lite.exe) with WinRAR, I see no SFX-comments

How is the right file called? Where does the script extracts itself?
What is your secret???
Best regards and thanks a lot

/S switch in this case is not 100% silent (window with installation language still popup).
That window is not invisible. If appear, the script is ready to click a control (button).
You can move a window that allready exist (visible) on the invisible part of the desktop (minus coordinates probably), but I didn't tried this. ControlClick sometimes need active window to do the job.
So, to move the windows is completely feckless.
Edit: daemontools-4123-lite.exe is the original installer and the other is the compiled file. All stuff is extracted to Temp folder or in another location - it does not matter.

Yes, I saw this comment - but normally you have a WinRAR-SFX-comment like this:
CODE
Path=%programfiles%\WinRAR
SavePath
Silent=1
Overwrite=1
Is the SFX-comment by johndoe74 encrypted in any way?
I asked this because I can't see which switches are used and which program is called after extracting (now I know that it's dt4123.exe). So if I recompile the AutoIt-script it has to be named dt4123.exe, right?

It doesn't matter since you have to build a new sfx archive using WinRAR or 7-Zip.
Just set the compiled file to be executed after extraction. But keep the name of sfx or if you change it, modify the section [AddProgram] in .ini file.

Not to bother you - I know this, as I'm building WinRAR-SFX-archives for a long time. In the last weeks I've learned how to make a 7Zip-SFX-archive using the modified SFX-module...
But I want to understand!

I hate it if I don't understand how things happen...
Why can't I see the "normal" SFX-comment like in my own WinRAR-SFX-archives?
And, BTW, which INI-file are you referring to? There are only 2 executables inside the archive (if I remember correctly, I'm not at home right now)!

Fire up WinRAR, load your sfx, hit Info button in WinRAR and edit the text how you want, then press OK.

Entries.ini file, outside SVCPACK directory (I presume that you will create an addon with that sfx.)
