Notepad.exe as it has no dependencies. I have seen a thread/topic asking for you to remove it from xp using nlite. Your reply was if enougth people ask for it then you would.
My opinion,
I do use it but i reckon that it would be nice if people still had the option to remove it. (no offence of course). Maybe if you do a new release of nlite you could do it as well.
The other suggestions i have:
More flexibility on grouped components. ie games wallpapers etc.
Of course i wouldn't expect you to list each wallpaper as it would take ages etc but maybe break it up like eg widescreen, textures etc just like when you change the wallpaper in vista.
Thanks nuhi another great job by you.
PS.nuhi the first beta version of my program comes out in febuary i would like/be honoured you to test it - of course.

nice tweak that could help the boot time
change the services to automatic [ delayed]
here the list in picture
its would be nice to have as default even before making the changing of services like nlite have

the vital problem for me is whql-checking of the integrated drivers. the system during its installation always says it can't check the drivers' signatures, though i know for sure, that all of them are whql-signed. can this checking be disabled? i really need this tweak. thanks in advance.

How about a "Legacy Filesystem Junctions" option that removes the 'Documents and Settings' etc junctions meant for backwards compatibility. No matter what I do I can't remove them mounting with imagex.
I just don't use programs that require such accommodations.

May i suggest more extremal cutting?
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS contains tons of sensitive information which is nice to be removed
- .NET frameworks
- More boot.wim cleanup (there are tons of system/install files not needed for clean install)
- Along minor surgery: CardSpace, Digital Locker, Windows Update / BITS / other services, Windows Anytime Upgrade, Guided help, XWizards?
- Get rid of TrustedInstaller at all?

Some preloaded presets would be kinda cool. Say for instance one wanted to make a Vista box that was only for Media Center. A prefab preset that had only the stuff needed for media center would be cool.

Its been said before (by Jeronimo, Joh L. Galt and Nerd Lite... etc) but I'll add it again because it would be really nice:
An option to move the entire Users folder to another dir or drive (including correctly updating junctions etc included in this folder).
Cheers, and thanks for vLite.

here is suggestion nuhi, since some ( not mentioning any names here

maybe add ability to sort the categories of the comp.s to something like
Safe to Remove
Recommend to leave
Functionality/
internet
media
update
something like that
will be good to newbie users

and make the user fast choosing each time
like build-in present file without have to build it
added in 2.5.2008able to copy just one image from install.wim [ could save time of copying or/and to vlite progress ] Hanschke

ok one more idea
An option to remove more files, using relative paths. For example, this option to be located in the Components section I could specify to remove files like so:
\Windows\system32\command.com
\Windows\system\winspool.drv
I'd think it to be better if it is specific like that. I edit the image after vliting to remove 16-bit support. There are two winspool.drv files, \Windows\system\winspool.drv and \Windows\system32\winspool.drv, and as far as I know the one in system32 needs to remain while the one in system can be safely deleted. I remove 100 or so files as part of NTVDM and editing the image afterwards just makes the image grow.

Update how much space a specific component uses because the newer components dont have the size of them above the descriptions.
Updating Last session.ini's to XML so you can use the "+" and "-" to hide things you dont need to see i.e. Languages, keyboard layouts and each seperate catagory.

Tihiy's point was that with an eeepc, you've only got 2-4gb of hard drive space
so having .net framework on there is a bit mental

Nuhi, can vLite load the compatibility/app items from a INI file ? This form, each users can create their compatibility options. By example, I would have this compatibility items:
Laptop recomended: Mobility Center, Windows Mobile Device Center, Windows Portable Devices, Network and Sharing Center, WLAN Support, .....
LAN file and printer sharing: File and printer sharing (Server), Computer Browser, Network and Sharing Center, Network Explorer, ...
Firewall and Antispyware: Windows Firewall, Windows Defender, Security Center, Malicious Software Removal Tool, ...
Catch the idea ? Is this possible ? Or you plan extend the compatibility items ?

What about vLite to come with some ( tested ) presets already for component removal ? Just to select them and then make just some tweaks around it. Let's say something like :
- minimal installation
- media center ( full media center - but for rest minimal installation )
- tablet pc ( same as media center )
and others. Me for example I want an Media Center installation - to be fully working but nothing else.

Please add the option to customize the location of
%PROGRAMFILES%.
Edit: Nuhi, I have added you to my will, please see the following excerpt:
"To Nuhi, I bequeath the hefty sum of 3 pence..because he is a swell lad and for all his good efforts with vLite."
Now, in doing so, I realize that you could hire an assassin for 1 pence to eliminate my poor soul post-haste from this cruel world (and thereby quicken the distribution to you of your newfound wealth). But then you would have to pay a homeless person 1 pence to pay another homeless person 1 pence to try and eradicate the assassin (thereby creating plausible deniability to the original murder plot crime via the one degree of separation buffer), and then you would be back where you started from - and no pence richer - so, by my logic..I am safe! But, I won't be inviting you over for tea and crumpets (and giving you my address in the process) until I am good and ready to die, capiche?!
Aherm.. All that aside, you would make an old man (with too much time on his hands, obviously) really happy if you would add this feature.

Fix "Wallpapers", as it takes 83M, has a "Caution!" and can cause crashes at first login.
By "Fix", I mean that when checking the box, instead of just removing the wallpapers, replace them with blank ones, so that you still save all the space (except for a few 100k maybe) and you avoid crashes.
Thanks for reading!

Personal folders and Recovery options
Hi, all
“vlite” is nice freeware program to customize installation of Win Vista. I suggest two additional options in this program and I will explain why:
1- I want option to add personal folder(s) to Win Vista DVD without installation during installation of Win Vista. These folders present backup for personal images, mp3 and others. I ask this option because I noted that size of one DVD is huge with comparison of size of Win Vista even if I use “vlite” to add drivers instead of reduction of Win Vista.
2- When I choose unattended Win Vista, I miss a nice Microsoft GUI, which displays three options: (Install now – What to know before installing Windows - Repair your computer). Sometimes, I use “Repair your computer“for recovery. I suggest additional option to enable or disable recovery options in unattended Win Vista.

Hi Nuhi, i'm posting here first time.
My humble requests :
TWEAKS :
- Disable Thumbnail Cache, but leaving the ability to still preview thumbnails.
- Screensaver start time (eg. after 3 minutes it screensvr should start)
- Services Config : Put services to enable/disable/manual mode just like in nlite.
COMPONENTS REMOVAL :
- Windows Card Space
- .NET Framework
- character map
- disk Cleanup
One more thing, in xp, the setup files are cab compressed, but in vista, files are in a .wim image.
is it possible to have all vista setupfiles back again cab compressed. i think this will speed up the setup process. and moreover we can place our custom files in.Maybe i'm wrong, maybe the image is highly compressed, but please can you explain this?
AND ONE LAST QUESTION NUHI (may be wrong place to ask for): Next vLite (v1.2, i guess) When?..... Just throw in a guess, say may be in 2-3 days, or 2-3 hours, to sooth my eagerness.
Thanks Nuhi, for such a Wonderful Product !!!

Mega dittos on that. The .NET Frameworks comprise about 50% of the space used in a Vista install. If not, more.
