ricktendo64
Make sure you have IE7, SP2 and M$ C++ Redistributable installed.

BTW VAIO b2 is comming this weekend and I will be updating this addon with the Vista RTM sidebar

EDIT: What did you use to integrate my addon? nLite or the RVM Integrator (its only compatible with 1.3 RC)
kane3162
sorry i didnt nlite it yet i extracted it and installed it manually that might be it.... lol ..... but i already have IE7 SP2 and the c++ redistrib....... i dont get errors for the calendar or calc or run just all the other gadgets.... ill reinstall the moment you release your b2

ricktendo64
OK then you did a INF manual install?

If you did you have to add the environment variables manually

Right click my computer and choose properties
Now the advanced tab then environment variables
Hit the first New button
Var name: VAIO
Var value: %SYSTEMDRIVE%\VAIO
Now hit OK

Now on the same window look Down from the box the one you just added VAIO to and you will see another box
Now double click on Path (or highlight it and select Edit)
now add ;%SystemDrive%\VAIO\ to the end of the line of path and reboot

Do you have the Italian version of the Sidebar files?

Where is it?
ricktendo64
If you have an Italian version of Vista do a search for sbdrop.dll.mui and Sidebar.exe.mui

Also you need sidebar.exe, sbdrop.dll and wlsrvc.dll I think
ricktendo64
Updated to RTM
Nadeem97
Can i install this without integrating ? ... i mean, i managed to install vaio cauz it has a setup file...but i didnt find a setup file for the sidebar,

plz would u upload an installable version ?

Regards
ricktendo64
Extract my addon and install svcpack\vFonts (segoui and calibri fonts)
Now to install the Sidebar manually right click on Sidebar.inf and select install
It will give you an error all you have to do is browse to Sidebar.cab and select OK twice (it gives an error cause its looking for the i386 folder)
Wait for the sidebar to get installed and then copy Sidebar.inf to C:\WINDOWS\inf (If you want to be able to uninstall)

Thats it, its that easy now reboot to allow the files to get registered (this happens automatically) and nJoy
Nadeem97
Thank You !!! it worked perfectly... waiting for next release
FrozenBlade
I get this error when the sidebar launches.

Any way to fix it?
ricktendo64
@FrozenBlade Re-Install WMP11, MSxml6, W-Lan API, vcredist2005, VAIOXP b2 in that order and tell me if that helped (uninstall VAIOXP and reboot then Re-Install VAIO)
FrozenBlade
The image you are seeing there is my Ultimate XP made out of XP Pro, it is running on a VM, it has Tablet PC and Media Center installed, I will intergrate WMP 11 and the other things later but would MC or Tablet interfeer with the sidebar?

PS: Thanks for the links, I will download them all now.

EDIT: Tried it on the VM and my real computer and I get the same error. sad.gif

EDIT 2: Forgot to mension, I can't seem to download the VAIOXP thing there is no link to any files?
ricktendo64
I think you might have to register
FrozenBlade
Hey... I got one thing to say to you mister............. IT WORKS! thumbup.gif

I had to get an older VAIOXP but the sidebar works just like it does on Vista now.
ricktendo64
Updated v2.1... View AddOn Dependencies and Changelog
Removed Sidebar Skin (You have to use WSS now)
Removed Fonts (I made em into a seperate AddOn)
provolino
**edit**
FrozenBlade
I don't mean for you to take this the wrong way but, how can you call this an update? by the look of the changelog all you have actually done is pulled things from it and split them into even more chunks meaning people have to download more parts to get it working.

EDIT:

I decided to try that font pack and it corrupts my Windows Install saying that it can't copy one of the files...
ricktendo64
Thats cuz nLite deletes the simhei... Manually cab and copy it to i386

EDITED by me
FrozenBlade
What you said worked but what do you mean by "Deal with it" I for one can easily peice this together now but what about for the people that have no clue about silent installing the heap of stuff you need to actually get the sidebar working?

I am sure a lot of other people don't want to run around websites trying to fit together the Jigsaw which is this sidebar, can't you pack it all into one? except maybe for the API Lan update from Microsoft.

Most people just want an addon that just 'works' It just get's put into Nlite and that's it, no other things to do.
ricktendo64
Its only 3 addons VAIO, Sidebar and Fonts

Look the sidebar addon consists of nearly 1000 files dude im just trying to make the thing easier on ME, plus I got a really slow connection and how I keep updating so much then the small filesize its very good for me in that sense also

So if you want a AIO just use your knowledge and a little cut and paste and your are golden

Im gonna see about making a fontinstaller addon for you guys (Silent Switch Font AddOn)
FrozenBlade
Ok, well I'm sorry smile.gif

PS: The sidebar still rocks too biggrin.gif
Compl3xity
Hey guys..

I installed all of the named tools like -> WMP11, IE7, WLAN API, dotNET 3.0, VAIOXP and the Sidebar itself..

The Sidebar works perfectly, i can add Gadgets and so on everything allright! But i have a little last Problem -> my Sidebarbackground is totally BLACK! And i can't change it! I downloaded the WSS.. SidebarStyler 2.0 which you should all know, but i can't change anything with it!

I ask you guys if you can help me or tell me what i did wrong! I hate the BLACK bg.. this sucks, i want a transparent bg like i had it before newwink.gif

So far.. kindly regards
ricktendo64
Do you have .Net Framework 3.0 the 50 megabite one?

Here try these skins and tell me if they work Download

EDIT: @Frozen I FIXED the Fonts Issue With nLite Uploading v1.1 NOW
I renamed simhei to simheia but after it gets copied to the fonts folder it will be renamed back to simhei so now no more nLite worries
QUOTE
simheia.ttf = 100,,,,,,,22,0,0,simhei.ttf,1,22
FrozenBlade
Thanks again. smile.gif
ricktendo64
Here the vFonts v1.1 are up!!! http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=615
Compl3xity
Ok Rick.. i thought i already got the Dotnet 3.0 but therefore i UNINSTALLED it.. then i installed the Dotnet from YOUR LINK.. and it was the same like i had before! I downloaded the skins.. but i don't know what to do with them -> i couldn't find a place where to put them? Somewhere @ the WSS? Or programs/windows sidebar? Please tell me.. cause this BLACK BG sucks HARD!
ricktendo64
Just double click them... Go to Start -> All Programs -> Stanimir Stoyanov -> Sample Styles and keep them safe in there
Compl3xity
LOL i am no noob.. i know how to open a *.RAR newwink.gif

BUT -> I added your files to the Sample Styles.. they appear there in the list but they DO NOT appear in the WSS where i can change the styles..
but all time i want to change the style, he asks me if i want to close the sidebar.. blabla i click ya i want to close the sidebar, then the sidebar RESTARTS and WSS tells me, that the Style has been changed.

BUT -> i can't see a change! U want to get a Screenshot of that?

fast reply please rick.. i love u for your help!

EDIT: -> Ok.. i found out, that i can apply the styles manually, but they aren't displayed in the WSS.. but when i rightclick one of your styles and then click apply to windows sidebar -> the message appears that the style has eben applied.. the sidebar loads, but the style has NOT changed biggrin.gif Still everything is black!
ricktendo64
I meant double click the .wsstyle file and it gets applied...

Are you on vista, XP or 2k3?
Compl3xity
i fixed the problem my way newwink.gif It was a configuration fault by ULTRAMON cause i am using 3 Desktops newwink.gif And this Software was unable to show the transparency.. but i fixed it now newwink.gif
Thanks for ya help.. this was a f***ing fault!
ricktendo64
LOL I worked my butt off to make you some NON WSS User Skin Patches and I attached them to my post on WinCert if you want them you might have to register http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=485

They are under Sidebar Skins:
FrozenBlade
Rick can you PM the old one to me? because I just had to install this one because I just formatted and now... the sidebar is just a plane black with no gradience like before and now I also have to download the styler for it to even work properly and I hate downloading other apps to get something to work properly because you have to fiddel with them for like half hour and it also no offense the the maker but I really do not like that styler at all, all it does is change some skins if you don't like the old one... The old one had that lovely gradience like the real bar, I can't do this in the styler. sad.gif
ricktendo64
You don't have to install the old one, Just go to wincert and download the Skin Patches I attached to My Post
I included 9 different Skins in 2 Variations for a total of 18 Skin Choices and a Virgin sidebar.exe for skin patching, then you just copy and overwrite the old sidebar.exe in %ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar then you patch and run vista executable and your skin and vaio patched sidebar is done

You can also repack your preferred skin back into the addon, just make sure its been skin and vaio patched before you repack it into sidebar.cab in my addon

Keep applying and trying skin patches to the sidebar.exe untill you find one you like (I like the None skin)

You might have to register @WinCert to view and download the atachment, I tried ataching it to the post here above but only 200K is allowed
FrozenBlade
Oh, cool. Thanks
ricktendo64
Hey dudes I made a auto addon maker for your WSS Skin and default Gadget settings

It will grab the config files of Windows Sidebar and Windows Sidebar Styler and it will create a custom addon of those files so when you boot you will have them by default

Download: http://www.sokoolz.com/addons/r64/SidebarS..._Auto_AddOn.rar

alucke
Only the calender, livesearch work on 2k3. I have patched wlsrvc.dll, reinstalled vaio2003 and still the same thing. How can i get the other gadgets to work?
ricktendo64
Install IE7 and WMP11 then tell me if that helped

Also try dragging and dropping wlsrvc.dll and sbdrop.dll into the regsvr32.exe executable in the same folder (tell me if they registered successfully)
alucke
I uninstalled the vaio and windows sidebar, then reinstalled it using the instruction from wincert.com. It works now. But cant seem to install other gadgets.
ricktendo64
OK... Use 7zip to uncompress the .Gadget file to a sub folder, then copy it to the Gadgets or Shared Gadgets folder and add .Gadget to the end of the extracted gadget folder name
