Im wondering if i have to install the windows updates for internet explorer for WinXP SP2 even if im going to install IE7 in my uaDVD.

the same for Windows Updates for WMP9/10 if im going to add WMP11 to my uaDVD.

i think they are not necessary for im not 100% sure. if anyone can answer this it will be great. so i can remove/leave the. BTW, i install all windows updates from svcpack folder.

EDIT: everything worked as expected. i left the ie6 cummulative updates just in case and all went fine. there is an update for windows media (one for wmp9 and one for wmp10) so i left the wmp9 and wmp11 installed just fine.

now i have WMP11 and IE7 installed from runonceex using both original installer from MS.
switch for IE7 /passive /update-no/ norestart and for WMP11 /Q

Yes, you can bypass updates of IE6 / WMP9 if you install IE7 and WMP11 after. KB887472 is an windows media update but for WMP 6.4 which is needed in all cases, keep it.

You can integrate WMP11 with WMP integrator and IE7 with nLite and have all latest updates with ryan pack all in 1 cd

yes, i knew that already but i prefer to have them installed this way in case i dont need them for an installation. this way i only keep one uaDVD source updated. i dont really like nLite because it takes the control out of me, if you know what i mean. but thanks for the heads-up.

i think i will be using WMP integrator as soon as i test the setup with IE7 and WMP11.

thanks for the comment Sonic. im leaving the explorer 6.x updates in svcpack because i think that a lot programs use explorer components and many install some control for ie6 so i think installing the updates wont harm anyone. this is as long as i encounter some way to integrate ie7 without using nlite.
