Hello there, is there a directx 9.0c Dec 2006 addon for 2000 pro. thx
dirtwarrior
I think Ryan has 1 on his website. You can use hfslip also.
datarelm
that wont work, WINDOWS 2000, not xp, and thats for xpsp2 and hfslip has some issues, so i need to use nlite, any ideas
datarelm
Basically, i do not think nlite and hfslip mix as fred vorck's site states, yes hfslip slipstreams dx9 but its shaky with hotfix integration (I.E: Windows Update stating that 8 out of the 27 hotfixes i slipstreamed needed to be downloaded...) and well Nlite is excellent all the way around except with DX9 and 2K, i wished that was easier said then done, so i still need help. THX
dirtwarrior
Just use hfslip to intergrate DX9. I had no issues with it. Using both nlite and hfslip. I got a very stable useful iso around 80 mb with windows 2000. It used very low amounts af ram and was very secure.
johndoe74
you can use hfslip to directly integrate directx into win2k and then once hfslipped, use nlite to remove components. works perfect!
dirtwarrior
Yep and use hfslip to remove componants. Then use nlite to slim it even more.

The technical reasons behind this are too long to go into here, but trust when we say that it IS fully slipstreamed. For really real. Windows Update scans for Registry entries, not file versions. The proper files are in place. HFSLIP even slipstreams the new and unimproved DX9 binaries that MS issues every month with developer tools that bloat your machine, if you want to use that package.
datarelm
Ok thankyou guys, you've been very patient sorry about the long reply, i fell asleep lol, (Im usally not so clumbsy with slipstreaming, I play with xp more than 2000, and it seems 2000 just has these fine qualitys that erk me lol.)

i second that! hfslip does an absolutely perfect job on it, such that not even nlite can manage, at least on windows 2000! in fact, i don't think even MS themselves could do a better job biggrin.gif
datarelm
hfslip does a job, but it doesnt completly load it in, such an example, I integrated DirectX9 Dec 06 with hfslip on 2K sp4 following mr vorcks instructions and low and behold the first game i installed FORCEFULLY REINSTALLED directx 9.0c dec 06 without asking (this particular game only does this when i DO NOT do a proper manual installation) im not trying to complain or cause a ruse. but this isnt very helpful if the first of 490 some odd games i own reinstalls dx9, thats what i ment earlier by "shaky" it does integrate it, it does work, but becuse it didnt smooth and shine "Cosmetics" every program or game that searches for dx9 reinstalls it becuse it dont see it...
tommyp
datarelm - I feel funny posting an HFSLIP question in the NLITE forum, but can you post your hfslip.log file so I can see how you are slipstreaming dx9c on 2k?

datarelm - You don't have the IE6 cabs, but you have IE6 hotfixes. You have a wmp9 hotfix, but you have the WMP9 installer in the incorrect place. So of coarse it's not working, you don't have it set up properly. I would recommend you read up on what file goes where (link) and retest. Also, you are using a pre-hacked 2k disk. You should really use a unadulterated installation source. You will not get the proper results if you use a prehacked source....

Sorry for intruding on the NLITE board to post an HFSLIP answer. smile.gif
datarelm
First off what does IE and wmp have to do with dx9? and second it isnt hacked, its the SP5.1 i integrated that its wining about, thats also why theres no ie6 cabs, SP5.1 = Hotfixes, IE6, ect.... So but again DX9 HAS NOTHING to do with ie6, wmp9 installer is where fred vorck's site says to put it. i followed that set of instructions to a T....
datarelm
Ive been working with windows components removal, editing, rearranging, ect since 2003, before i even knew about hfslip or nlite, Nlite and HFslip have made it a WHOLE LOT easier, now what i do know as of now is that according to vorcks instructions nothing is wrong with the configuration of the disc, hotfixes and dx9, wmp9. HFSlip triggers a unclean source whenever you do something "outside the lines" unofficial sp5 is considered outside the lines by hfslip, dx9 can be integrated without ie6 and wmp9 so why are they relevant im racking my brain looking through this mess of hotfixes, vorcks site ect. nothing is incorrect, i integrated sp5 before i ran hfslip and sp5 added IE6, so theres no reason to get the cabs. and i cant quit using sp5 due to the 137gb setup fix it includes, (300gb disk drive) so then that brings us back to the original question will nlite include a dx9 integrator... 2000 IS NOT dead yet whether or not Mr Gates has chosen to discontinue it.

So...to HFSLIP we go!

You may want to have a look at this topic as well.

datarelm - I don't doubt your expertise, I'm only trying to help. HFSLIP works best when it detects a clean source. What you may want to try is to let HFSLIP slipstream the USP5 instead of you doing it manually. The point I'm trying to make is that if *any* setup INF files are incorrect, you will get a bum installation. This brings up a question you asked about IE6 hotfixes. Well, HFSLIP processes IE5 hotfixes different than IE6 ones. HFSLIP *thinks* you have IE5, so it may be processing your IE6 hotfixes the way you wouldn't expect. This could lead to bad installation INFs, which could render a bad sourcess folder.

Personally I don't use the USP5, I use individual CAB and hotfix files. All DX9 components are successfully installed less pictures of joysticks/controllers. Many others report successful DX9 slipstreaming with HFSLIP too.

On a sidenote, if you use the list of hotfixes on the link I previously posted, there isn't a 137 gig barrier with a CD install. smile.gif
Tomcat76
1) You can leave MPSetup.exe in HFSVCPACK_SW if you prefer but HFSLIP can slipstream it if you put it in the HF folder
2) KB885492 can be slipstreamed even if MPSetup.exe is in the HFSVCPACK_SW folder but it's rather pointless since it's superseded by KB917734
3) The SP5 with IE6 hasn't been tested yet for compatibility; things may go wrong with the IE hotfixes
4) USP5 isn't considered "outside the lines" if it was slipstreamed by HFSLIP
5) HFSLIP takes care of the Win2K 137GB barrier if REG.EXE is present in the HFTOOLS folder
datarelm
Ok thankyou tommy, ill go look for reg.exe, and make an old fashioned 62,000 hotfix disc lol, thanks for the information, hopefully i fix this up.

I don't play in modern games newwink.gif but as far as I remember a lot of BIG games CD come with DirectX on it. Why not to try refusing to install DX when it asks for it? All needed files and regestry settings are on your computer already (if you HFSLIPed it right newwink.gif and it should work without re-installing DX smile.gif
datarelm
I finally figured out what to do, i just kicked 2000 out on its keester and upgraded (LOL upgraded) to xp sp2 SLIMMED no ie and im doing fine game wise. so consider this deader than ancient history. and sorry about the month long reply..
