SLAX is fast and beautiful Linux operating system which fits on small (3.14") CD-ROM disc. It runs directly from the CD (or USB) without installing. The Live CD described here is based on the Slackware Linux distribution and uses Unification File System (also known as unionfs), allowing read-only filesystem to behave as a writable one, saving all changes to memory.

ntfs-3g, faster boots, lzma patches, smp, better wifi. What could we ask then ?
Pretty funny : at school we're doing ocaml and it's a nightmare under windows, plus my teacher can't stand windows but his old computers got moved somewhere else and now we have to run slax to get a decent ocaml environment. tongue.gif

QUOTE
slax-6.0.0pre6:

- fixed uselivemod script
- fixed mo2lzm script

slax-6.0.0pre4:

- fixed a problem in using many modules (busybox issue with remount during startup)

- not fixed mo2lzm script !

Btw, the batch file that makes a new iso is completely broken since they change the directory structure.
If not already available, I'll send them a fixed version by the end of the week. newwink.gif

SLAX 6 RC3 changes:
- added Linux Kernel 2.6.21.1
- full NTFS write support including Persistent changes on NTFS
- added newer aufs version with refined inode handling,
which works much better than the previous version and fixes the problem from rc1.
- upgraded to Slackware current
- added full perl, I hate it but it's needed, I know
- added xterm for popular demand, plus few more X apps
- added some man pages back, added 'man' and 'groff'
- added gettext and gettext-tools
- koffice is splitted to a separate module so you can remove it easily
- fixed changes=/dev/device/dir/file which didn't work
- fixed hostname if dhcp host is missing
- start dhcpcd using -t 60 and fork it to background (&)
- released 28 modules for internationalization
(including initrd support for correct 'localized' mounting of NTFS volumes)

And from the very beginning of the boot procedure. newwink.gif
Btw, you probably know how painful wifi can be under linux. Ndiswrapper lets you use your windows driver under linux but you need to have a driver which is rarely the cases when you use live distros.
... Driverpacks anyone? tongue.gif
