BUG: When I delete the startmenu group of itunes7. Everytime I start up itunes the windows installer runs, and reinstalls all shortcuts. This does not happen when I delete the desktop and quicklaunch icons created by the install. Just the startmenu group seems to have a problem.

Report your bugs to Apple.com , this software is loaded with them.
I didnt create this installer, it is Apple's.

you can find a switchless installer on my repository. It is English only.
There is also a lauguage installer to support languages other than English.
Do you have an alternate link for the installer since your site is offline?

No i don't. I don't use this program at all, i just created the installer for others because .. i can. Possibly an MSFN member who has downloaded it already will make it available and post a link in this thread.
From what i read on the internet, this program (v7.0) is riddled with all kinds of bugs. I'll bet there will be a new release within a week or 2, to deal with the majority of bug reports Apple is receiving over this release.

This is a perfect example of why I hate advertised shortcuts

The idea behind them is fine, but some software publishers power and control issues. They wan't
their shortcuts on
your Start Menu only as they define them.

I hate advertised shortcuts too.. they were that way in 7.01 also.. but in this version i made,
I changed them , they arent advertised anymore, illiminating this problem.
I also stopped the desktop and quicklaunch shortcuts from being created

In 7.0.1:
"An error occurred while updating the default player for audio file types. You do not have enough access privileges..."
But it looks like the setting worked anyway. Too bad iTunes took over my audio file type during installation though.

I cant reproduce the error, are you using an administrators account?
You can stop it from stealing the associations by repackaging it.
currently, it is a 7Z selfextract EXE using this command:
RunProgram="msistub.exe iTunes.msi /qb"
To turn off file associations you'll have to repackage it using this command:
RunProgram="msistub.exe iTunes.msi /qb REGSRCH_MEDIA_DEFAULTS=0"

Strange, now I can't reproduce the error either. I guess it only happened the first time I ran it after a clean install. This was on an account with admin privileges.

The installer i created uses the native MSI from Apple. All i did was remove the language files and offer the language files as a separate addon. It should work with your iPod.

hmm i dont using nLite. I build my Unattended XPCD in oldshool way by hands using MSFN.
Everything works perfectly because i control everything that i change in XP distrib. And your ITwoQT 701 + LangPack installs and works cool

Maybe Apple change something in service install ?

Can you tell me username who have the same prob.

ok, i revisited the package. I found a problem with the Language addon/package and have updated those files. Try installing the language pack BEFORE the main program. Please let me know if the updated files work for you.

Still bad

I made a clean test - delete every track of itunes ipod, uninstall all versions and clean registry and reboot.
Still no luck

The same error. I try to turn off, on , automatic this service - nothing.
Try to run Langpack.exe first - no luck.
701+langpack = work 100% i believe you can do it with 702

Cool! Now iTunes 702 works perfectly! Great work! You fix the bug!

hmm but latest langpack during extracting at 86% popup 7z error:

Maybe because i run it more than once?
EDIT: I try your new MultiLanguage installer...
EDIT2: The same cool result! Works 100%! Thnx a lot!

Hi!
Thanks in first place, I've been using your installer since 7.1 now! Got to know it from somebody at the dutch tweakers.net site!
Anyway, I'm curious how you created this installer ? I've been playing with it some time ago but it didn't work for me! I guess you also used Orca to edit the msi, bu could you say what you've changed ?
I would like to create my own installer, not that yours isn't good enough, but I like to know what has been edited + I want an installerer with the user interface, as I use it also to install non-silently!
Thanks in advance,
Jeroen.
(PS: you can PM me the info too if you want to keep your topic clean or don't want to get it public ...)

I don't have any issues with quicktime (installed from the VCP) or with iTunes released on my repository.
Sorry to hear its giving you such problems. You mention in the VCP thread about QT issues and most likely this is all the same issue. Have you tried to remove the QT components installed with VCP and install the official QT release to try and fix these problems?

I think i may have asked the wrong thing. If pushing Shark007's exe out to end users who will have programs open, you get a prompt to close programs or to leave open and then it will require a reboot. Is there a way to elimate that window and install with programs open and have no reboot required at the end of installation? The end user can just reboot at the end of day? Thanks

I use the original MSI to create these installers. These items you address are 'failsafe' proceedures built into the msi. My installers are build mainly for unattended use where these situations would not exists.
I'll have a look at bypassing them for you, but no promise...
Are you using the multilang version or the english version?
EDIT: I made a modified version of the English only installer. This will perform a completely hidden installation and hopefully, doesnt prompt the use for any clicks either.
