DEFINITIONS
switchless installer; execute = installed, no user interaction.
silent installer; execute = installed, no user interaction, no visual interface.

All the files on my site are switchless installers.

Hey friends, i'm just a novice user though, but i was just playing with the iTunes setup and I somehow got it working without installation.

1. Inatalled iTunes (without Quicktime but Quicktime Alternative installed)
2. Copied iTunes folder from Program Files to some other location.
3. uninstalled iTunes.
4. Did a reboot
5. Ran iTunes from that saved folder and it worked but showed me message about CD burning & CDdatabase.
My solution:
6. Installed Gear drivers (ftp://downloads.gearsoftware.com/updates/windows/drivers/Driver_Installer.exe)
7. Registered "CDDBControlApple.dll" (present in iTunes folder) (regsvr32 CDDBControlApple.dll)

Result, iTunes working without any bloatware. The whole iTunes folder is now 28Mb with language files deleted. If i compress it, takes down to 12Mb (Rar max solid compression).

I'm also posting whatever i did above. Please spare me friends as this is a very rudimentary (iexpress) installer. Most of the job it'll do silently, i've only kept the user prompts. You'll still need to install QT Alternative. please just let me know if this works... at all :S

File: iTunes 7.6.exe (13Mb)
Link: http://www.hotlinkfiles.com/files/1221329_...y/iTunes7.6.EXE

I thought this might be helpful for others as well.

Thanx a lot for this great forum!

Hi Shark,

my mother bought a Ipod Touch so i had 2 install Itunes.
First i installed the your quicktime package, then Itunes.
But when I connected the Ipod it said: "Something wrong with the Itunes installation, you need to uninstall then reinstall Itunes"
Tried that but got the same error message.
Then I uninstalled "your" version Itunes only, and installed the official one, no prob.

do you know what caused this?

anyway thanx for alot of great packages thumbup.gif

The problem most likely comes from my version of quicktime not iTunes. I have not modified Itunes at all.
The official iTunes 'updated' quicktime to the official release.

My version of quicktime is stripped down to a browser plugin.
I'll update my page to let people know my quicktime is not compatible with iTunes.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Oh!

Thanks for the info on your QuickTime release because just yesterday i recommended it to a friend along with your iTunes.
I must tell him to install QuickTime Alternative.

On a side note, i install you iTunes in some machines for people with iPods. I install on my comps to update the firmware of my Nano and the other other i had to reset for the first time. It is a PITA that you have to be connected to the internet in order to reset you iPod. iTunes will never cease to annoy me enough with thing like this newwink.gif

Regards.

Is there anyway to install Itunes in Windows XP 64-bit edition?

Since I dont foresee having highspeed internet access soon I have created transform files for others to use and apply and even distribute thier results. These transform files CANNOT be successfully applied using orca. Installshield is required.

The person who is able to successfully apply the transforms file and redistribute the results to the satisfaction of users can also take over these releases in the future.
elajua
Thanks Shark, i will build two installers with the transforms files. Hopefully, i can be able to post them during the weekend.

I used your transform to create a modified msi. What do you typically do to create the exe you distribute?

You can use 7-Zip or WinRAR. Also it is recommended to use a stub file to launch the msi setup whatever you use to pack the installation.

I already made both builds but i can't make and administrative install point to pack them into switchless installers. Did you manage to make an admin install point?
Shark007
administrative instlall point (AIP)

1st create c:\temp
in the dir with the msi run the following command .. msiexec /a anyfilename.msi targetdir=c:\temp /qb

Done. Thanks. I tried with msiexec and msi but the interface couldn't display admin install options. Didn't think of providing the path via switches.
I will test both builds. When i'm done i will upload them to some place and will post here.

English and Multilanguage builds for iTunes 7.7.1.11 are ready. They are switchless (double-click/execute = install).

I tested them on two different computers and they worked fine.

Here is the link to download them.

Thanks to Shark for the transforms.

I don't know if the transforms can be applied to 64bit version. If they do, i can make those builds.
Maybe Shark007 can tell us if they can.

elajua, thanks for getting this out there. I havent tested your release, but seems OK from peoples reaction to the release.
The transforms can be applied to x64 versions as well as future releases of iTunes. UNTESTED
(all of my releases were done from scratch)

someday, dont hold your breath, my health isnt the best, when I have the time,
I will send you a personal tutorial to edit these iTunes msi's from scratch.

I'm out of town but i will apply them to 64 bit versions of iTunes and upload it when i get home. Surely will be before next weekend.
I hope that you are doing ok and wish you the best.

I'm already looking forward for that tutorial. As i don't personally use iTunes (i do install it on my computers just to update my firmware), i don't even tried to customize/repack it myself, so your instructions would be appreciated by me and all the users who install it.

Get well and regards.

So... About that x64 release of 7.7.1? smile.gif Thanks for your work, it's much appreciated.

Hi. There were some issues with the english installer, so the x64 versions will have to wait until i talk to shark about the modifications.
