I've got two problems cropped up of late since re-installing Win98SE. Can anyone help?

1. Every time I boot into the Desktop I get the New Hardware Wizard twice asking me for the location of 'Unknown Devices' and refusing to continue on into the full Desktop until I cancel. I've tried various uninstalls but it always comes back. MSInfo32 and System can't see it.

2. When left-clicking on the Desktop (to get into Properties, for instance) I get the message "Message to DEVS: Shell: Calling root key before nview.dll is loaded" (nview is part of nVidia)

If you are using "mix-and-match" NVidia driver files from different versions, you may need to use all files from same version.
Reboot when ready.

Or...

Get + install Startup CPL [freeware]:
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
and disable all NVidia/Nview entries from your registry + startup folder [if any].
Reboot when ready.

Or...

Maybe some NVidia driver files are corrupted. [?]
Download the driver package + install it again:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_81.98.html
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_archive.html
Reboot when ready.

You're right about 'mix-and-match'! I went through the main nVidia files and switched some of them to different versions I had in store and it seems to have solved that problem. Thanks for the insight.
