Hi, I have compiled the version Nero Lite 7.8.5.0 which Acheron has posted the Nero7850SDK. All the works has been done by Acheron www.updatepack.nl, i only repacked and compiled. I have tried it in windows XP and Windows Vista, and it works perfectly. You must have a valid serial to install it correctly and activate it, if not, it will not work.
The Nero Lite pack contains:

• Nero Burning Rom (with VideoCD Support and MauSau Audio Plug-ins)
• Nero Express
• Nero CoverDesigner
• Nero WaveEditor
• Nero Toolkit

The Micro version only contains:

• Nero Burning ROM (with VideoCD Support)
• Nero Express

These are the instructions to install it silently recopiled from the post of Acheron.

I have attached an archive with the MD5 of the files.

so if i remove coverdesigner and wave editor lines from the code box above, those components will not install, is that correct?

also, the burnrights components, what is that for? is that for non-admins to be able to burn? if all the users on my pc are admins, is that component necessary?

the text in the code box, is that included in your download or do i have to save the text as a file?

You can install it manually checking what you want, but if you want to install it silenty and remove coverdesigner and wave editor you don´t have to write it in the section components.
An example: I want to install only Nero Burning, InfoTool and DriveSpeed, so i must type in the cmd:
Nero7850_eng_lite_R1.exe /Silent /Components="Nero_Core,Nero_Toolkit\Nero_InfoTool,Nero_Toolkit\Nero_DriveSpeed"
/User="YourUserNameHere" /Company="YourCompanyNameHere" /Serial="YourSerialNumber"

The text above are the instructions for installing the program silently, you can use the commands you want, it is not necessary to save it as a text.

I installed this over Nero Lite 7.7.5.1 and my settings were not kept. Is this normal?

Also no icons/shortcust for Nero Express?

I think is normal because the new version will usually overwrite the setting, so you had to have saved your settings before in a .reg file and execute it after installing the new version.

Like i have seen much people does not use nero express, i remove its shortcut and icons, but nero express is usually there.

Two errors, one during installation-serial number entered but error in activation from your installer-refer "install error" attached in cab file; one after installation and serial number manually entered into registry-refer "launch error" attached in cab file. Consequently, Nero will not run; wants a serial number entered even though my valid one is.

Fixed the bug: it does not find the nero.exe when it is installed in other directory than the default.
Some minor fixes.

I installed the basic Nero only and it keeps popping up a warning about wanting to update. Also, would it be possible to re-incorporate the MauSau plugins?

Installs without error; launching any of the Nero apps...BurningRom, Nero CoverDesigner...etc. causes features/files missing popup dialog box with an update button to hit for add'l features/files etc.; which, of course we do not want. I hit the update button for testing purposes and an error occurs; hit "OK" and all of Nero Burning ROM's apps installed will launch correctly- MissingFilesState="1" must be changed to "0" to prevent this; refer "Nero7_Installation.txt" in attached cab, only the Nero Core\NeroBurningRom_Eng.chm shortcut is created in All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Nero 7\Manuals, the other help file shortcuts I had to create manually-no biggie, the Desktop shortcut is created irregardless of whether the option is chosen, Nero Digital Audio appears twice in Audio Format Settings Decoder only, not in Encoder, finnally, one cannot configure WMP audio in Encoders, hit the configure button and nothing happens; onlyWMP...all others configure correctly. Refer to the attached cab for images of the errors.
I added some files to the already started multi-session DVD+RW-burned without error, just now finished burning 3.8G to a new multi-session compilation-DVD+RW as I was typing this; burned correctly without error.
Sooo, this is basically a winner.

Type in the correct info for your User, Company and serial number; ie: "Serial7_1177435233" = "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx", then, copy and paste below into notepad. Save as "Nero7_Installation.reg" sans quotes. Double click the reg file and click ok to merge into registry and, voila, no more popup; or you can manually change the MissingFilesState=1 to 0 in the registry.

Been too long since I installed/used the original/bloated Nero7 but, Nero-7.7.5.1_english_lite did not have this restriction; for want of a better term, actually, in the scheme of things this really doesn't matter. I only mentioned it for completeness.
I was wandering if it is possible to retain the choices during install, as did Nero-7.7.5.1_english_lite, of whether or not one wants Nero VCD support or the Mausau plugins etc.; check boxes contained in the install dialogue box-checked=install, unchecked=do not install. This way one could have more control over it; I personally do not install the Mausau, find them too much and buggy-the filters always being updated, but, alot of people think otherwise so, choice would be nice. I, personally, use WinDVD to play DVD movies and DivX to encode so, again, I would choose no to Nero VCD
Lastly, thanks for this; I am not understating the obvious when I say we are all delighted you continued the project; and was able to do so successfully; any testing help you need......etc.

i referred to the original installer 7.8.5.0 english trial, but i does not matter because i have found the culprit, Nero has removed the option to configure the windows media audio in his new version, i don´t know why.
In order to see it, change the msaxp.dll of the new version to the msaxp.dll of the version 7.7.5.1, you will see that you can configure windows media audio later. Also the duplicate of nerodigital.dll in the decoders is only in the new version of the library Nerodigital.dll.
Also i have added Mausau plug-ins and videocd support, and the option to select them or not.

I don´t know if there is a need to a tutorial, because all you need is on the Webpage of Archeron, only put the files in suitable directories and compile them after.

Before in the program it has been pointed to the default directory "ProgramFiles" to execute nero.exe, but now it is pointed to any directory where the program is installed.
In a few hours i will upload the new release R3. Here are the changes made:

• Added: MauSau Audio Plug-ins and also the option to choice them or not.
• Added: the option to select VideoCD support or not
• Fixed: the value of "MissingFilesState" changes from "0" to "1" when Nero is activated. Now it has been fixed to "0".
• Fixed: it always creates the desktop shortcut although it is not selected.
• Some minor fixes.

One other minor thing; even though Nero is selected as the defacto image file handler during install, ie: bootable ISO, IMG etc., you must go into Nero's options and set it manually.

You are right because i have removed the association of Nero to the commons images CD (*.ISO, *IMG..), as i have considered que the most people open those images with UltraISO, but if you consider that it is util, i will implement it in the future version with the option to associate or not.

I only use Nero-have been for six years or more, but, choice is always good; something Ahead took away from us when they redesigned their software. I mean, when I first upgraded to 7 from 6.6-itself beyond reproach in my books; not one coaster, I went through 30 high quality Verbatim DVD+/-RW's in less than a month using Plextor writers. I could not burn a simple backup DVD. Nero support is abysmal, to be polite about it; seriously, it is really, really bad. In the past, say two-or so-years ago Nero support was awesome. Anyways, I had to figure out for myself the root cause of this flaw and it was Nero's media filter executable, reminscent of 98SE, NT and 2000 days loaded up as a running service. I deleted it in the registery "Run" and from my Nero folder-voila, no more coasters. Nero support was two weeks getting back to me on my first support request, and my last ever, by which time I had already solved the problem, only to feed me with the usual; re-install, try different media and my system specs....on and on... I had uploaded my info.txt and one month's worth of history-the running txt file Nero keeps in the root directory of all Nero activity; successes, failures, codes etc. I guess they do not have time to read this information. I do not think I have ever seen such a good piece of software and company go in the toilet so quickly. I've bought Ashampoo and my experience with it was abysmal, Roxio, Ulead...etc. are as bad, or worse than Nero; so, for now, one is stuck. So, this NeroLite is literally a Godsend. Fantastic Major!

Updated the first post with the version R4, and I have added three languages: Spanish, French and Germany. I will add more. I hope there are not many errors since i have made changes simultaneously.
The changes made in the version R4 are minor.

• Added: the option to select to associate Nero witn the standard CD image files.
• Added: the shortcut to Nero Express.

you are on a roll. R3 would not associate Nero with ISO no matter what; had to go into folder options and do it manually from there, but, all is great.

This one doesn't even install for me. (All I put on is the main Nero and the MauSau plugins) Gets to the end and then "An error occured during the start of Nero Product Setup."

I have just made a try, and it has been installed well for me selecting only the main nero and the MauSau plug-ins.

Yeah, it's a clean install. (Even nuked the Nero directory before I did it) Gets to "Finishing installation..." Then the error. Then the installer is hardlocked. Keep in mind, I am in Vista...

There's your problem-Vista; and don't bother going to Nero's support, would lead to even more frustration.

R4 English, on XP anyways, is probably final; installed and really gave it a workout; burned two multisession DVD+/-RW's, one DVD+RW while erasing another and erasing two DVD+/-RW's all simutaneously with not even an iota of problems in any fashion. The ISO association problem is fixed and your NeroLite launches and burns an ISO automatically, again, without error; can't thank you enough, man

Well, R2 installed fine, but R4 is the one I'm getting errors with. Regular Nero installs just fine.

Could it be a problem with bitlocker and the activation wizard?

Where is the micro version? I would like to download that one.

I Think the problem of vista is when the program tries to write the key for MissingFilesState to "0" finishing the installation, vista blocks the execution of the program. So as i can not make tests in vista, i will upload a test version with another solution to write that key to "0", but if it does not work, i will upload a version like R4 but without that key "0" until i can make tests in vista.

@acetken: could it be a problem with User Account Control (UAC), as the executable tries to write a key in HKLM controlled by UAC.

Nope. This version still does it. Tried it on another machine too. Same deal. Seems to get stuck on the activation process.
