NUSB support of USB floppy drives is broken, it should be removed, I wrote about it in this thread twice already but it was not corrected yet. Use manufacturer supplied driver instead. You need manufacturer supplied driver to support USB 2.0 in Windows 98, you can use Everest to identify the USB 2.0 controller, this is the example: CODE --------[ PCI Devices ]----------------------------------------------------------------- [ VIA USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller ] Device Properties: Device Description VIA USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller Bus Type PCI Bus / Device / Function 2 / 4 / 2 Device ID 1106-3104 Subsystem ID 1106-3104 Device Class 0C03 (USB Controller) Revision 63 Fast Back-to-Back Transactions Not Supported Device Features: 66 MHz Operation Not Supported Bus Mastering Enabled The important information is Device ID, Subsystem ID and Revision. Petr why don't you fix the problem above we can't put all i hope & depends in one person to keep a updated system.If we do we will never get our system up to date /bugless free Its seem that everyone who start a project don't care to finish it or take too long to make adjustments and updates |

Hu$tle, nobody has replied to my observations and suggestions so I have no idea what is the real dimension of the problem, it looked like just and only I have the problem. I have reported the problem in this thread on May 2 2005, more than 19 months ago. There was suggestion to use Microsoft umss driver instead of these partially working files taken from Windows Me, but I never was able to compile it and again nobody was interested in this way. If everybody is happy with the current state why should I try to change it? Petr |

Since support of USB floppy drives is broken, does anyone know where i can find a 'manufacturer' driver? I tried Sony's site, but i couldn't find it. My laptop is NOT a Sony, is a Dell, ONLY the floppy drive is a Sony; at least, that's what NUSB detected it as... I had to do this on my newer PC, because once i plug in the drive in the laptop, 98 goes straight ahead and detects it, followed by the BSOD. I would need to uninstall NUSB, right? Both drivers are made by Orangeware, the first one is special Intel edition with support of ICH4 and ICH5 southbridges and Windows 9x only, it is dated 4/01/2003. The second one is newest Orangeware driver for Windows 9x/2000/XP, supports ICH4 only and is dated 3/1/2006. I don't know which one will be better for you. The laptop has a parallel port, but my new PC does NOT, so that option is out. The only way i know of, is via USB, but i don't have the right USB cord (it's the one with two male ends, right?) Also, I don't know enough about networking to figure how (i.e. type of network cord) i should use to connect the NIC's of both computers. |

It sure does, and my new PC has a DVD burner. But, I don't want to waste another Blank CD for a max. of 100 megs of drivers and such. Because i already have plenty of CD-R's with lots of free space on them. Is there a way to re-use/add data to these CD-R's if their capacity is NOT full?

in nero you can save the session and you can add files later as long as you set the multisession option

1. Ever heard of CD-RW (rewritable CD)? 2. I get TDK DVDs here for less than $1/pc. Jewel case included. CDs are about 5pc. for $1. 3. Crosslink cable is what you need for connecting both machines' NICs. Make sure you set IPs in the same class (i.e 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2) and workgroup is identical on both. |

Modifying a cable is not that easy, as you would have to replace the RJ45 outlets each time. You can find documentation on Standard ad Cross-over cables here. As for Nero's multisession, I don't know what to say, it always worked for me in v5.5, 6.0 and 7.0. Not sure if it could have something to do with your particular burner hardware, I tested with a TEAC CD-W552 CD-burner and a Samsung SH-S182D DVD-burner. Just make sure you don't mix sessions burned with different types of software. I had some multisession CDs destroyed long time ago because first session was burned with Roxio and second one with Nero. |

I have some problems with this download. I installed the NUSB and restarted the computer. Afterwards, I connected my USB Flash Drive into the USB port. Nothing happened. So I went to control panel and went to Add Hardware and started the search. I find the USB drive in the list and said it had problem. So I try to push the update driver button and directed to the WINDOWS folder, it detected a driver and asked me to restart it. So I did. When I came back on I replugged the USB and it doesn't do anything. And when I went back to Add Hardware it still said there were problem with the driver. Help? Btw, I reinstalled like 3 times.
