So, let's go then!
As I said in a comment on Archerons blog, this system would work fine:

1. post the MD5 hashes for the latest release of Nero Lite on Acherons page or in this thread (we need Acheron or some other trusted party to do this)
2. post the Nero Lite files (matching the MD5 hashes) to some file host and link to them here
3. ask others (that means all we forum participants) to repost the files to other hosts and post links here, so that there's always a steady supply of download locations
4. finally, advice everyone to check the MD5 hash of any downloaded file before installing, so that it hasn't been tampered with.
There are many excellent tools for easily and swiftly checking MD5 values, like winmd5sum ( http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/winmd5sum_portable ) and Hasher ( http://www.den4b.com/downloads.php?project=Hasher ).

For the moment, all Acheron really needs to do is to post the MD5 hashes for the last released version, since folks who already have it can then themselves re-upload it and post links here and the rest of us can compare those files to the MD5 hashes Acheron provides.

So please get this rolling ASAP!

BTW, has anyone here successfully created a Thinstalled version of Nero 8? I have tried for some time but all created .exe files fail to launch with error code 5305 which I believe is serial expired related, even though a valid serial number has been entered.

Here are two download locations and MD5 / SHA1 hashes for the files. Now we need Acheron or (2nd best) others to confirm that the MD5 / SHA1 hashes match the original files Acheron released...

Thanks cybpsych! In my view, if folks with a trackrecord of serious posts in these forums for several years (like cybpsych has, unlike me for example who almost never post) can confirm the hashes then that's reliable enough, though confirmation from Acheron would of course be optimal.

Now if someone could also confirm the Nero-8.1.1.3_english_lite.exe hash.

Excellent file host amitri - I got on average 2MB/s in download speed from it. I'm reposting the hashes from your page. It would be great if anyone else can confirm the hashes for the two last releases (from some other source, ideally downloaded directly from Acherons page).

Hi hurk777, as you might have noticed I have added my digital signature to all setup files. So when you right-click the Nero-lite setup file you can check if the file attached with it is correct. No need for hashes.

Is there any possibility of having Nero Custom Applications Builder for 7.x and 8.x versions of Nero.... i mean the way silent installation method was made easy for previous older versions of Nero viz. 6.x cant v have the same type of custom builder for latest versions..... what do you all have to say about this.....?

I have did some more work on the Nero Lite SDK. It's almost ready for release. Good news about next SDK is that you don't have to manually copy files over anymore, so building your own version should be more easy.
furthermore I do plan to upload some binary packages.
Nero 8.1.1.4 Lite is only bugfix release plus by default additional languages will not be installed.

Hi Acheron!

It would be possible, in the next release, implement a swith to force the language for the unattended installation ?

Example: installing in to XP Italian operating system NERO Lite with French language or any other NOT Italian language active... or be able to install all the languages of the region to allow the selection manually after install.

Good to see you back with a new version of Nero Lite! No I hadn't noticed the digital signature actually and I really don't know much (or rather anything) about such digital signatures in files. I see it now when I look for it, but how exactly do I check if an .exe is correctly signed or not? Is it enough to see the correct name at the first screen or should I always check that the same serial number ( 03 a2 ea ) is included? If a file has been tampered with, how is that described on that right-click tab?

If the signatures makes posting hashes redundant then all the better. But in that case I think you should post a note about it clearly on your homepage so that all users know about right away. Keep up the extremely good work!

I don't think people should worry about file hashes anyway. In case the digital signature is not correct you should get some warning message when launching the application.

I have uploaded a new SDK. Now the SDK contains also the Inno Setup OneClick package plus a new batch file to automaticly extract the Nero 8 installer
