Could anyone else confirm if this happens to you as well? I basically used nlite to slipstream most of the windows updates and then installed office from and install point. The steps I took to accomplish this are shown below.

1. Copied all the files to the folder called XPproVL
2. Used nlite to apply most of the updates which can be slipstreamed (listed at the end of the post)
3. Installed a machine in unattended mode and applied the missing updates using Microsoft Update.
4. Installed Office 2003 from an Administrative installation point. The Admin point was created according to instructions from: Office AIP howto
5. Office Applications run correctly for Administrator.
6. Created a new user and logged in as that user.
7. Launch MS Word, the Office setup part starts where it asks the new user for their name and initials, but fails with the following errors:

I hit ok and then get

I hit ok and then get

I am sure the office admin point is fine since I installed another system by hand from the original cd, then applied all updates from the windows update website, installed office and had no problems while launching it for the first time with a new user that I created which is not administrator nor has administrator rights.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Nope, The date and time in the machine are correct and the KB seems to be only for Office XP and 2000. I am using 2003. But thanks for trying.

Try to take a look at the eventviewer (start -> run -> eventvwr).

Also, post your lastsession.ini, who knows ?

I don't really know but one error is referring to .net framework 2.

Maybe it was installed on the computer you used to create the admin point but not installed there. Or vice versa.
?

Also have you tried installing by hand ?

I did *not* integrate IE7, only windows updates since I was trying to troubleshoot the issue and started only with the updates. After fixing the registry permissions on they key mentioned in your post, everything worked correctly for me. So this must be a bug in nlite 1.2.1.

I have listed the correct permissions in your post. However, I am also listing them here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer
Administrators - Full Control
System - Full Control
Everyone - Read

When the permissions above are set, remember to propagate them down to the childs, otherwise, you will still have problems.

This permission change fixes my Office 2003 install issues.

I guess I jumped the gun a bit also. I noticed mine only after I began integrating IE7, however in order to do so, I had to upgrade to 1.20 and then I upgraded again to 1.21.

It never crossed my mind that maybe it was nlite alone.

** On a unrelated note, I just wanted to thank Nuhi for this great program.
It has tought me a lot about integrating/removing items from XP.

After spend hours of making a lot of iSOS compilations I finally found the problem:

Yes, by integrating that KB via nLite produces that error, because after make a compilation with all the Hotfixes that I included skipping the 893803 no problems and then on the same compilation installing the KB893803 from Windows no problems too, exist only when is integrated on nLite. Maybe is not fully supported, but I really hope that nuhi made a quick update for this ^0^.

If you are having issues with that, it is Windows Installer. nlite may not have full support for it, but it is included in ryanvm's update pack, so your best bet may be to go with that. Maybe someone should make a new thread about 893803 not working thru nlite to have nuhi investigate it.

Try reinstalling the KB893803 from Windows and see if works.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

BTW nuhi: I've already made all type of test:
-Integrating without removing any component: fails
-Integrating without any other hotfix: fails

All integrations applied on a fresh Windows XP Professional SP2 copy with SFC disabled, I'm guessing that this is maybe due the language.

Hello !

It was mentioned some time ago, regarding IE7, in this thread:

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=86346

along with simple fix (it was about bad registry access rights after slipstreaming).

It saved me a lot of wasted time today (with office xp pro vlk) smile.gif

Btw, the problem still exists in 1.3 rc.
