  1. Hi All, Despite the fact that I haven't "burned" a CD-R for years, I recently felt the need to use USB (flash or external HD) for faster UBCD4WIN loading. And I've been afraid of what I found, long, complicated procedures, using bits of linux, DOS, Windows, etc. I couldn't decide myself to waste so much time in something that seemed so easy. And I found a (almost) one click solution: http://gocoding.com/page.php?al=petousb The drawback is that there's no easy solution to have several partitions on a USB Flash Disk. And whith this program, you'll have at best a 2 GB FAT partition (I waste 1/2 of my 4 GB flash disk space). But it's really easy to use. Greetings.
  2. Hi, http://www.vernalex.com/tools/services/?theme=1 Doesn't that help ? I've used it to make a 2K3 install as close as a XP one. But although they really looked the same, they were a few differences: The PHILIPS usb webcam wasn't properly detected under 2003 (but it worked with NetMeeting). The Traffic Shaping program I use (http://www.cfos.de/traffic_shaping/traffic_shaping_e.htm) works under both XP & 2K3 but the systray icon was never displayed in a RDP session (Terminal Server) under 2K3 making the program useless as I always use remote control (Remote Desktop) of my server. Oh, and cFosSpeed can prioritize the traffic of individual programs. And this does not work under Windows 2000 (wich means XP isn't just a bloated version of 2000 with more M$ spywares). Greetings.
  3. Hi, Sounds good. I always prefer portable apps. As this topic may become dangerous soon, please send more information or link at ardennes@free.fr Greetings.
  4. Hi, Why don't you open (and create) them with the excellent Opera browser instead ? Greetings
  5. Hi, You'll have it if you use RyanVM's Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack. Greetings.
  6. Hi, I don't remember the last time I've used a MS spyware, hmmm, I mean media player. I use Opera as a web browser and Real Alternative with Media Player Classic. The only codecs installed are the latest ffdshow and Windows Media Lite. I also sometimes use VLC with its own embedded codecs. My computer can play almost everything. Of course I'm a music lover who uses foobar2000 for years and I also like HD videos. My conclusion is that you can really ignore microsoft's spyware media players. Greetings.

Hi, After quite good results with XP SP2 I started recently working with 2003 R2 Enterprise. I was able to integrate SP2 and produce a working 1 CD of it (2003 + R2 patched with SP2). But when I start to tweak and remove parts, I have the same error, crash on first boot. Hmm, and no, I haven't deleted that file and the ISO isn't damaged : I have (unfortunately) reproduced the same problem 10 times on 2 different computers. Greetings.
  8. Hi, Yes, but some programs had problem accessing files over the network (they returned an error message) and I had to really start explorer.exe and click on the mapped drive wich was an unacceptable workaround. Note that I haven't tried the solution, instead I reinstalled the computer because I made several other changes or upgrades. Greetings.
  9. Thank you very much for your help.
  10. Hi, Maybe that's because you've used the 1st CD of a R2 Release. Try with a CD of 2003 SP1 only (without R2). I know the 1st CD is almost the same but if it wasn't released with R2, how could it ask for it now ? Cheers.
  11. Hi All, I've successfully installed a fresh XPSP2 prepared with nLite. But there's one tweak that prevents my audio player from accessing files on a network mapped drive. It's "Disable restoring mapped network drives on logon" I have to open the network drive with explorer and restart playing in foobar2000. I would like to revert this parameter to normal but despite hours of search I havent been able to find what it does (where in the registry ?). TIA.
