  1. Thanks guys. Working now. C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup This was a hidden which is why I couldn't see it. Regards
  2. Hi sorry to be a pain, but I have a few programs I would like to start up when Win 7 starts, such as live mail, Firefox etc. How can this be done please as I cannot see any way to add them (they are on the desktop at the moment) to my startup. Thanks And a Very Merry Christmas to all and have a very prosperous New Year !
  3. Thanks for all your help guys but finally cracked it. It was a faulty Wireless router which would not open the ports when told to. (D-Link DI 524) so nopw got a Buffalo G-125 and works great and faster. Thanks again
  4. Thanks for replies guys. The only firewall is in the router which the ftp and pcs pass through but I have allowed ports to pass through this. I also got the son-in-law to check from his pc and he gets same message so it has to be on server. Yes there is a site and I emailed them as there is supposed to be an upgarde there but other manufactures have been downloadingh this as it works with their drives also so they werent happen and have taken it off the site and this is supposed to correct some ftp error so maybe this is the fault I have anjd with luck they may contact me with download \link. Thanks Tony

  7. Thank you very much for your expertise,I shall keep this then.
  8. I found this file on an unattended xp disc which I had given so that I could see if I could pull all the drivers from it as it finds most for mobo etc when it installs. Are these files allowing spy/malware onto the host pc by allowing them through my router firewall ? Here is the top of the files followed by about 50 or more sites. These files are found in $OEM$\$$\system32\drivers\etc\hosts Thanks for your time.
  9. Thanks prathapml. As I said in my first post I am starting to learn and all tools are greatly appreciated. I will get there in the end
  10. I just built a new one and chose to go AMD route even though I wuld have liked Intel but too expensive. I went for a decent mobo the Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe because it has lots of support such as 7 Sata connectors and 10 uSB plus it can run 2 Nvidea GPUs in a single system using PCI Express. Plusw lots more. AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Retail Nvidea GForce 7300GS (I will update this shortly as son as funds allow) 1 gig DDR2 going up to 2 gig shortly then run dual memory. 2 X Sata 160 gig and 1 X 200 gig Sata Plus 2 X 250 Gig IDE Drives. Pioneer 11 16x IDE DVD writer Plus Liteon SH-16A7S Sata DVD Writer. Belkin Wireless Card. I then got a Hiper Modular PSU HPU-4K580-Mk2 type R SLI ready PSU (Costly @ £65 but worth every penny) Runs sweet as a nut and when I get chance to upgrade it will have wings. recommend.
