  1. Well..I dont understand why I wouldn't be keeping the data on there. I have 20 gigs of pics, almost 5 gigs of docs and 40 gigs of music. IMO its a lot faster and you have less chance of losing anything in the whole process. I do have regulary updated backups of everything, but i dont think goin through 14 dvds at any speed is very efficient. Would you copy all that data back and forth just for a "clean" windows xp install? and yes, Just in case i will add those lines for uninstall, Thanx
  2. As many of you know already when reinstalling windows and formatting the system drive you delete all the files, In an effort to not spend Countless hours Copying Back and Forth all of My Docs and such, I had in the past come upon a way to redirect all the folder lines from an .inf file (ex My Documents, My Music, My Pictures etc. ) during the Unattended installation Process, So here goes what I have so far, cmdlines.txt [commands] "rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 128 .\redirect.inf" redirect.inf [Version] Signature = $CHICAGO$ [DefaultInstall] AddReg = Reg.Settings AddReg = Reg.Uninstall CopyFiles = Inf.Copy [DefaultUninstall] DelReg = Reg.Settings DelReg = Reg.Uninstall DelFiles = Inf.Copy [Reg.Settings] HKCU,%Folder%,Personal,0x00020000,"%PERSONAL%" HKCU,%Folder%,My Pictures,0x00020000,"%PICTURES%" HKCU,%Folder%,Favorites,0x00020000,"%FAVORITES%" HKCU,%Folder%,My Music,0x00020000,"%MUSIC%" [Reg.Uninstall] HKCU,%Posn%\%NAME% HKCU,%Posn%\%NAME%,DisplayName,,"%NAME%" HKCU,%Posn%\%NAME%,UninstallString\ ,,"Rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultUninstall 132"\ "%53%\Application Data\Custom\redirect.inf" [Inf.Copy] redirect.inf [DestinationDirs] Inf.Copy = 53,Application Data\Custom [SourceDisksNames] 55 = %DISKNAME% [SourceDisksFiles] redirect.inf = 55 [Strings] Folder = "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" Posn = "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall" PERSONAL = "D:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\My Documents" PICTURES = "D:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\My Documents\My Pictures" FAVORITES = "D:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Favorites" MUSIC = "D:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\My Documents\My Music" NAME = "Reapers's Folder Redirect" DISKNAME = "Setup Files" Looks Good Huh, So my question would be is, Has anyone else done this and if so do they know how to do the naming of the Desktop. I was thinking [Reg.Settings] HKCU,%Folder%,DESKTOP,0x00020000,"%DESKTOP%" [Strings] DESKTOP = "D:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Desktop" might work but im not sure...any information would be greatly appreciated, Like a list of availble command lines that i can use.
  3. Heres an idea that i believe is possible...Im not sure what the reg key or coding would be as i use a reg key to change the name and location of my temp folder. but maybe you could do something similiar to change the temp location or name temporarily then change it back...im about to start doing some testing on that note so ill post anything i find. [OFFTOPIC] For some strange reason whenever i install NIS2005 i cant install anything that uses WISE installer or the msiexec.exe(Installshield I believe) and i cant uninstall NIS2005 after the fact) it jus locks up. If anyone could help me on that plz message me. [/OFFTOPIC]
  4. Heres my first..hope everyone likes it Setup Screenshot
  5. so far ive tested every version of xplode except for the ver 2 beta (which i wouldnt mind testing to). as for the off topic i used peexplorer (and photoshop)to edit the winntbbu.dll (if ya want to know how it was done im sure theres a post in here somewhere..heres a good place to start setup screen
  6. FuNKeR As stated in the original "run_with_logging.bat" that is included in the Xplode.zip [commands] "..\XPlode\XPlode.exe will call the default XPlode.xml and the /log:#systemdrive#\xplodelog.txt" tells Xplode.exe where to put the log file and what to name it. though in the .bat file it names it Xplode.log instead.
  7. OK..so heres the problem...I've tried running Xplode at T-13, T-12, and T-9. Under Sp1 it works fine at T-12, But under SP2 i can't get it to run at all during setup. And at first logon XP is saying that Xplode isn't a valid win32 application. If anyone could help me out with this it would be much appreciated Heres my files Folders cmdlines.txt [commands] "..\XPlode\XPlode.exe /log:#systemdrive#\xplodelog.txt" winnt.sif ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" AutomaticUpdates=yes [Unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS Repartition=No FileSystem=* UnattendSwitch="yes" WaitForReboot="No" OemPnPDriversPath="xxxxx" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore KeyboardLayout="US" [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=xxxxx EncryptedAdminPassword=no OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=35 OemSkipWelcome=1 [UserData] ProductKey=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx FullName="xxxxx" OrgName="xxxxx" ComputerName=xxxxx [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1024 YResolution=768 Vrefresh=60 [TapiLocation] CountryCode=x Dialing=Tone AreaCode=xxx [RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup = 13,17,3,2,5,16,4,12,15,7,8,10,11,9,6,14,1 SystemLocale = 00000409 UserLocale = 00000409 InputLocale = 0409:00000409 [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes [URL] Home_Page=about:blank Help_Page=about:blank Search_Page=about:blank [Proxy] Proxy_Enable=0 Use_Same_Proxy=1 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=xxxxx [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [IEPopupBlocker] BlockPopups=Yes FilterLevel=Medium ShowInformationBar=Yes [WindowsFirewall] Profiles = WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall [WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall] Mode = 0 [SetupParams] UserExecute="%SourceDrive%\XPLODE\XPlODE.EXE /log:#systemdrive#\xplodelog.txt" [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\XPlodeLog.bat XP-AntiSpy.exe xplode.xml <XPlode> <config> <hidewindow>Windows Update</hidewindow> <hidewindow>CMD.EXE</hidewindow> <show total='6' after='2' subcount='true' /> <font face='Tahoma' antialias='false' small='8' large='12' /> <window width='400' position='200,64' fixmain='0' /> <windowmode mode='guiredraw' /> <colours> <header back='#003399' fore='#FFFFFF' image='%XPLODE%\images\head.png' /> <footer back='#003399' fore='#FFFFFF' image='%XPLODE%\images\foot.png' /> <progress border='#000000' back='#000000' fore='#660000' fore2='#000000' /> <main back='#FF00FF' fore='#FFFFFF' current='#333333' description='#FFFFFF' image='%XPLODE%\main.png' overlay='#FFFFFF22'/> </colours> <strings> <title>Carpe Noctum</title> <complete>complete</complete> <adduser>Adding user #xxxxx#</adduser> <addusertogroup>Adding user #xxxxx# to group #xxxxx#</addusertogroup> <addgroup>Adding group #xxxxx#</addgroup> <title>Carpe Noctum</title> </strings> </config> <items> <item display='Alpha...'> <addgroup groupname='Administrators'/> <adduser username='xxxxx' password='xxxxx' groups='xxxxx'/> </item> <item display='Beta...'> <execute display='Preparing...' program='#XPLODE#\PREPARE\prepare.cmd' arguments='' /> </item> <item display='Gamma...'> <execute display='Installing DirectX 9.0c...' program='#XPLODE#\APPLICATIONS\DIRECTX9c\' /> </item> <item display='Xi...'> <execute display='TweakReg...' program='regedit.exe' arguments='/S #XPLODE#\REGTWEAKS\RegTweaks.reg' /> </item> <item display='Omikron...'> <execute display='Cleaning up...' program='#XPLODE#\CLEANUP\cleanup.cmd' arguments='' /> </item> </items> </XPlode> and Just for fun my winntbbu.dll(Setup Screen) I would supply a log file but i cant since XPlode isn't even running.

  10. well then your quick...good morning to you and thanks again
  11. ok thanks ...maybe i needed to xplain myself a little better though... I was just trying to avoid compatibility and install issues. i am a n00b so please forgive me... one more question for now. Can CMDLINES.TXT be placed anywhere? In the unattended setup guide it says to place it into the $OEM$ folder, yet my unattended install does not include an $OEM$ folder, Maybe place it under System 32? any suggestions?
  12. I'm using Xplode 1.06 and KiXart to make the .xml file and im not sure whether to place hotfixes or apps first for the install. also..can any application that is set for silent install be installed with Xplode at the Windows setup...
