  1. Hi, I'd appreciate help with the following Outlook 2013 issue. I have a Win 7 x64 PC with Outlook 2013. It has a single profile and it has several email accounts (mostly IMAP Gmail accounts) that deliver emails to the same single inbox or to custom folders within the same profile according to email message rules I setup. My PC's monitor died, so until I get a new monitor (it might be several weeks until I do so) I have no access to the PC. Luckily I backed up the PC's Outlook 2013 data files (pst, etc) to an external HD and own a laptop (Windows 8 x64) with Outlook 2013 installed that I'm using in the meantime as a backup computer. So I'm in the process of reconstructing my PC's Outlook 2013 in my laptop, so that it behaves in the exact same way as it did in my PC. I was able to create a single profile and by importing the backed up pst file I now have the Inbox plus all custom folders with all of the email messages I had in my PC. Email message rules do not show up, but this is not a concern, I can manually create them again as I receive new email messages. Email accounts were not created when importing the PST file, again this is not a concern as I can manually create them again (only 4 email accounts, not a big deal). However my main issue is that when I attempt to create a new IMAP gmail account (which Outlook 2013 does so successfully), Outlook 2013 will add it as a separate item in the left pane not integrated with the original profile folders (Inbox+custom folders), and when receiving emails it will not deliver new emails to the profile's inbox but instead it will start downloading ALL email messages (from day zero) to this separate account. So my question is: how can I make my laptop's Outlook 2013 have all email accounts deliver messages to the single inbox instead of showing up as separate accounts, and at the same time recognize the email messages already imported into those folders so that only new email messages are received in the Inbox instead of downloading all of the messages (from day zero) again? Thanks
  2. Thanks, I'll try autohotkey
  3. Hi, I have a large collection of articles in various formats (pdf, doc, etc) that I want to organize in folders according to their topics (History, Literature, Art, etc). The idea is moving each file to the respective folder. Is there any way of programming the keyboard so that for example when I highlight (select) a certain set of files and press "H", it will move those files to the "History" folder, press "L" for Literature, etc. This would be a great timesaver to simplify the task. Thanks.
  4. Hi, the following critical security update is listed every time I perform a Windows Update and fails to install: Security Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 XML Editor (KB2251487) I tried downloading the executable and manually install it but it also fails. Also, I don't have any Microsoft Visual Studio 2008" listing in the Add/Remove Programs applet. I'd appreciate any suggestions to fix this, thanks. My system is Windows XP Pro SP3 with all updates installed (except the one mentioned here) The details offered by Windows Update on the above Security Update are the following: Security Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 XML Editor (KB2251487) Download size: 0 KB , 0 minutes (Downloaded; ready to install) A security issue has been identified leading to an XXE (Xml eXternal Entity) vulnerability. 5. Hi, when I had IE6 the method outlined below worked perfectly to backup the Favorites sort order (to make it clear, I'm not referring to backing up the Favorites which can be done from within IE using File/Import-Export, I'm referring to being able to back them up so I can later restore them in the EXACT same custom sort order as originally, so I don't have to manually drag hundreds of bookmarks to the order in which they were originally). Sort order is not preserved when you transfer favorites to another PC If you use the Import/Export Wizard or manually copy the URL favorites to another system, the sort order will not be copied to the target system. This is because Windows stores the sort order in the registry. Neither the Import/Export Wizard or manual copy operation will reference the sort order registry key. In order to have the sort order applied to the other PC, export the following registry from the source PC: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Favorites Save the above key as a REG file and apply this in the other computer. The sort order is now copied/overwritten. The issue is that in IE7 I checked that resgistry key but it seems to not have the favorites in the original sort order but ordered alphabetically. So how can I do it in IE7? Thanks
  6. My PC is a Dell, I installed a clean WinXP Pro SP0 OEM (that came with the PC) and then patched it with SP2 (latest official from Microsoft). 1. How do you create an address bar toolbar on the desktop? And then how do you move it to the taskbar? Do you simply drag it? Thanks. How about this workaround? http://www.systemsabuse.com/2007/12/27/xp-...bar-go-missing/ 3. My MSN Messenger is version 7.5 (not the latest WLM) fully customized with the Plus! package, etc. I'm afraid that by letting the repair finish I might lose the original config...will I? How can I prevent this without having to clean resintall the whole thing? 4. Haven't tested this since as I said I uninstalled SP3.
  7. Hi, I just installed SP3 using Windows Update (I had XP SP2 Pro fully updated). Everything went fine, I restarted the PC and apparently everything fine after the desktop showed up (no error messages, etc). But after examining my system I found the following changes: 1) The address bar is removed in the main taskbar, so I tried Right clicking on the taskbar > Toolbars> but notice that the Address option has been removed in SP3. Any way to restore it? 2) Old Windows Messenger was reinstalled, so I uninstalled it. 3) Each time I try to open MSN Messenger an install window opens displaying that MSN Messenger is being restored, so I cancel the process and MSN Messenger opens up normally. Any way to prevent this reinstall from opening up each time I open MSN Messenger? 4) If I try to activate Error Checking after reboot (by right clicking "C" drive in My Computer-Properties-Tools-Error Checking) and reboot it won't go thru error checking, it will skip it. How to fix this? All of the above issues promted me to uninstall SP3 from my system using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and now my PC is back to SP2 and everything restored and working normally. I'd like however to know how to handle the above issues to be able to update to SP3. Thanks.
  8. I don't understand your explanation as to how to create the Address Bar in the main taskbar, can you explain again? thanks
