  1. bphlpt, Yes, you can format as exFAT just about anything now-a-days since about 2008 I believe when Microsoft added support with Vista SP1 and forward. Apple added support 12 months later with Snow Leopard 10.6.5 if I'm not mistaken. I use this format since I run both PC and Mac in my home.
  2. Thank you very very much jaclaz!! I hadn't considered the cable but you are 90% likely to be right. It's some sucky brand called "TRIPP-LITE" that was the only one that the local PC repair store had in stock. I have the 9ft cable coming from the USB in the back on the MB to this particular thumbdrive. I've learned MANY times over not to trust these so-called expert repair people with advanced technical issues or anything above "did you turn it on" level of support (typically that of HP, Dell, Microsoft). Of course they "highly recommended" the product, especially since it was the only freakin brand on the shelf at the time. Business ethics 101. Thank you again friend.
  3. Friends? Still having this issue...I'm thinking it might be the latest Intel Chipset Drivers...I'm reluctant to blame Kingston because I've used their memory products for about 10 years or so. Need help guys
  4. Friends, I keep getting errors in the Event Viewer under Windows 7 Ultimate x64 while using my Kingston 16GB thumbdrive. I've had it for about 6 months now, and have had no issues except these errors on occasion and every once in a while, my explorer.exe will freeze when re-formatting the drive to eXFAT (just to clear it). My system really doesn't like this drive...the errors are below... 5. Amazing, it works perfectly!! And, I tried clicking that link for the command line switcher program but the links come up as Arabic and there's also another link that points to a suspended account. Oh well, now I good to go. :-) Please do look me up if you ever need anything at all related to PC or Mac. (I'm on my PC and Mac about 12 hours every single day as well, been that way for about 15 years!!). Talk soon B)
  6. Hello again :-) You never sleep, just as I don't either!! haha OK, well I have 16 total 2005 redists (there are 12 in the picture attached to this post, and 4 more that I haven't put in that folder because they are newer updates to prevent DLL spoofing, so 16 total). If you think this is getting messy, just let me know, you've been such a big help to me, and it is very appreciated, so you've done MORE than I could've asked for. Again, just let me know if this is crazy crazy work to get these little buggers installing more easily
  7. Hi DosProbie, Good news!! The MSU.cmd worked PERFECTLY!! But...the Visual.cmd, only half worked. The .cmd worked for all the 2008 and 2010 redists without hassle but errored on all my 2005 redists (due to M$ using different command line switches I can only guess). Is there any way to add the functionality for the older 2005 redists in this Visual.cmd?
  8. Thank you so much!! And add me as a friend in case you ever need any help at all, and I might have an answer, I usually answer pretty promptly too
  9. Thank you very, very much DosProbie. This is exactly what I needed!! Command lines and such always get the best of me...So in order to get this .cmd to work, what switches will I need to add to it?
  10. Sorry too be thick here...what commands do I need from post #8 at thread you gave me for MSU installation? Do I add my folder location to the .bat somehwere? Also I feel like there is important info missing in that thread because of the thread starter using another language...
  11. And I'm not quite following "Start / Wait" in a .cmd file... Do I just type that exact phrase into a .txt file, rename the extension to .bat, and put it in the same folder as my VC++ Redists in EXE format and click the .bat to execute? And then do the same thing for my MSU updates folder?
  12. Oh sorry, I selected it, but forgot to hit "Attach This File" I guess...and yes, I know, beta test a LOT of software, and I have a lot of FSX add-ons and they aren't compatible, and I start running into errors with FSX when starting, and the list goes on Brother...
  13. Hi Friends, Got a strange OCD type question...I have collected a LOT of Visual C++ Redists over the years due to games that I play requiring specific exact versions, otherwise I get crashes and/or errors in the Event Log. Whenever I have to install Windows 7 fresh (about every 3-6 months) and (repeated 3 times for 3 different PCs in my home) I have to go through the painstaking and mind numbing process of installing these redists one by one. I'm not familiar with CMD prompts, so could anyone help me with some way to install these redists (EXE files) automatically, one after another, AND ensuring that they install in the correct order (x86 version installs, then x64 version installs, etc)? I've attached a screenshot of my redists (so you can get an idea of my pain)... I'd also like to find a way to batch install my MSU windows updates into a similiar package, or anything else automated...there are about 60 of them now...(Windows 7 Ultimate x64) Thank you friends.
  14. I must add my two-cents here...I use Kaspersky's Beta Technical Preview...trust me when I say that even though it's labeled "Beta" it's only because customer service wont support it. It works perfect since I've installed it about 4 months ago. I ramp the heuristics to deep, and allow it to only scan hard drives and do removable drives manually. Current version is: v.8.0.0.1082 available here: http://ftp.kaspersky.com/beta/kavwks8.0_for_windows7/ Beta is usable for 90 days without new key issued by Kaspersky (somethimes happens on time...sometimes not). No offense to others, please understand that in my experience the built in firewall has let me down numerous times so please don't trust it. Also do not depend on Windows Defender as it catches nothing that Kaspersky wouldn't have blocked as spyware like 4 weeks prior. Best to disable it under "Services" and get some CPU cycles back. Good luck...
  15. Oh man, and all this time that's where I assumed you were actually at (even though I knew you could get there through Control Panel), I assumed you there through "Folder and Search Options" in Explorer initially. Glad it's settled!! Good times...
