  1. I'm using 7077 too. 7077 is an escrow build which means it has to better than 6801. yes, a lot has changed since then. 6801 was an alpha/pre-beta build which means its buggy, and some features aren't even unlocked yet (remember the superbar?). While on the hand, 7077, being an escrow build would be the final stage before an RC is introduced, they basically look for show-stopper bugs. Compared to vista, the management and development of windows 7 has come a long way. I mean, remember Vista RC1, they had a huge bugeven then. So far, with 7077 my experince has been quite satisfaactory. But what's bad is, when booting I get so nervous that my windows 7 won't boot up, then i've got to reinstall my whole drive! Plus, when I've installed 7077 it's quite hard meaning that I have to backup my whole drive. It's not really hard but it just takes a long time, soecifically, 80 minutes . Then I reformat my hard drive, wow windows 7 NiCe!! O oh wrong driver, repair startup, system restore. Nope, doesn't work----so have reformat again . Then reformat, brake, reformat again! But other than reformatting for 3 times, I'd say Windows 7 7077 is a pleasurable experience. Plus the only bug I'm getting is my wlan card driver bug. And everything is quite staifactory. Tip: if don't want to reformat again and again, try using backup and restore of windows 7 instead of reformatting then a new install. It's actually faster with backup and restore.
  2. Might be a bug? But what build (of your computers) are you running?
  3. I started using 98 when I was three, then jumped to xp. And the transition was easy, mostly because 9x's and xp's are alike. But Vista came out which is one of the hardest transition of people from xp, as vista and xp's GUI aren't so much alike. But what's good with vista is it is very very id***-friendly (no offense to the people who thinks their idiots). That makes me think MS wants non-pc people to migrate to PC badly as a business target. This is the evolution of Windows OS, which actually follows Microsoft's Business plan. Hey, remember Longhorn? They had fly-out submenus back then, even at build 5048's start menu(the search bar built-in-the-start menu's debut). Frankly, I think they actually want it out. As they would be introducing a better replacement. Although that replacement is Vista's start menu, there is still not enough reason for it to completely replace the flyout submenu concept. Just read something at wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_of_Windows_Vista Note: (Vista's original codename, "Longhorn", was an allusion to this plan: While Whistler and Blackcomb are large ski resorts in British Columbia, Longhorn is the name of a bar between the two mountains that Whistler's visitors pass to reach Blackcomb.) Which actuallly supports, that vista is a transition of the consumer from xp to windows 7. Without vista the user would be clueless if jumps off to windows 7 from xp. Just like someone being brought from whistler to blackcomb (ski resort) without him knowing. cluberti:(im no position to say this actually) But this topic is kinda in the wrong forum. But interesting topic though.
  4. ahhh, the submenus. One of Microsoft's objective with Vista (or Vista[aids]) was to maximize user productivity, hence windows aero. Remember when you used Windows 9x with the submenus? My problems was there were so many submenus they occupied the whole computer screen! Or even worse when I used a slow computer, scrolling with the submenus were annoyingly slow . In a scenario, someone using his computer wants to open something, then scrolling through and browsing the submenus, then he forgets what his doing because his entire screen was blocked. And that would just annoy the user which Microsoft (or anyone) doesn't want. And that in my opinion is why they had to remove the submenu feature. And unfortunately I'm no expert that's why I can't answer on a more software basis. But I think, it might have something to do with Microsoft removing the classic start menu from Vista which was last seen on XP. Plus be thankful for Vista, Now that Microsoft kinda screwed Vista up. They have to make Windows 7 noticeably better which mean all the bugs be eliminated, or consumers might lose trust in them. If they made vista good then they have to make windows 7 kinda bad so that the successors would give them a good image.
  5. It is leaked in both 64x and 86x flavors. But, the downside is its only in Chinese. But did a little research today, and thought this might come in handy for those interested but doesn't knwo chinese. It's an english language pack. You'll be basically still be installing the chinese 7106 but be replacing some files which would make the 7106 into english. Link: http://hacksdaily.net/windows-7-build-7106...d-x64/#more-731 But I'm sure there would be another leak in the coming weeks. A far more better leak! Plus the instructions (according to the author of the original article) are quite complicated. So if you don't have 7077 yet, try getting 7106 chinese instead try using the English pack. Let me know if it works! Oh and, there are rumors that 7106 is coming in English.
  6. How come nobody's talking about Bitdefender? I'm kinda confused. Because Wikipedia says its one of the best (but you can't really rely on wikipedia since there are alot of vandals out there) and apparently toptenreviews.com says its the best. link: http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ Literally, nobody talks about bitdefender! Like here in my country nobody uses BitDefender(I mean idk anyone who use Bitdefender)! So what really is the best antivirus? Would someone be kind enough to post a maybe a comparative report? hehe:D thanks:)
  7. BitDefender Total Security 2009 - works (I'm not sure but I'm pretty confident that Bitdefender Antivirus, Internet security 2009 works) But unfortunately and not surprisingly (since it will be discontinued in June 2009), Microsoft's Windows Live OneCare - does not work Anyway, does anyone know what Anti-Virus software did Microsoft use in the last PDC conference in China? Thanks:)
