The HP format ver is 2.1.8. But beeblebrox shows 80 in boot column. I don't know what to make of the log file it looks like it finds the USB and then says just the opposite. Let me know what you think. Well now attachments say I'm not allowed to upload this type of file. Well I found the HP format tool, downloaded, installed, (it finds the drive) and formated (NTFS). WSFUSB still cannot find the drive.

How can I use the included format tool when I can't find the drive to format. I'll do a web search and see if I can find it someplace so I can try that.

This is turning out to be a big trial for me (trying to install XP on a laptop with Vista). Tried doing it from CD but cannot get SATA DVD drive to boot CD. So I bought a couple of USB flash drives and am now trying to install from WinSetupFromUSB. My problem now is WSFUSB gives me "No USD Disks detected or not properly formatted" message in the USB Disk Selection window. I have tried two different USB drives, three diffenent USB ports, formatting one of the disks (FAT32), starting WSFUSB before and after plugging USB in, even restarting all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated Thanks.

This is my latest nLite session, I wanted to get your opinions before I put it on USB flash drive. It also has WMP11 intergrated by boooggy. Let me know if there is anything else I should remove, Thanks.Last_Session.ini

MS in all its wisdom precludes you from installing a legacy OS (XP) over a newer OS (Vista). I tried this first and when the first GUI screen comes up the 'install windows XP' option is greyed out.

Unfortunatlly no IDE port, that would be too simple. And I even have a spare IDE drive. It appears my only choice would be a $100 external USB connected IDE optical. Like I said above I think my next step will be Win or Bart PE and a USB flash drive install. Boot from USB is supported in sys BIOS on the laptop. Wish me luck. Thanks Again

Thanks John, I read the post you refer to a while back when I did a search for my problem. I was hopeing to find a solution that did not require buying an expensive USB connected IDE optical drive. I have tried BIOS settings to no avail. I did not think it was going to be this difficult to get XP on a Vista machine. I guess my best bet from here would be to try with PE on a flash drive, unless someone has some other suggestions. Thanks for all you time and help.

johnhc No I can't get the original Genuine XP Pro SP1 to recognize either.

These won`t work, they aren`t integratable Hotfixes: Well I finally got rid of the hotfixes. I had to go into nLite and delete all previous .ini files. Apparently nLite accumulates these intergrations even when deselected. I think pathes are too long, too. You try to install on 2 different PCs (1 Laptop, 1 Desktop), aren`t you? Laptop has only SATA-Drive - no drive is recognized? Desktop has 2 Drives - IDE is recognized, SATA isn`t? I shortened the paths. Laptop has only SATA hard drive and only SATA DVD drive. I can't get to drive not recognized as the DVD will not recognize the boot CD. Desktop has only SATA hard drives and has both IDE & SATA DVD drives. IDE DVD drive will recognize the boot CD the SATA DVD drive will not (and this is on a computer with all the XP SATA drivers already installed). New CD, fresh copy, one session, one SP-SP3, drivers, nothing else. Still the same problem. Won't boot from either SATA DVD drive. Last_Session.ini

I don't know how the hotfixes got there must have been left over from the previous nLite session somehow even though I unselected hotfixes. But those come to bare later in the setup, so it still begs the question of why it will not boot on a SATA but will on an IDE DVD drive.

,yes sort of. I'm trying to setup laptop for dual boot Vista\XP so I can run some legacy programs. Desktop was just for testing SATA vs IDE DVD drive as it has both, already has XP installed and SATA drivers.Well I just nLited another CD (XP SP1 + SP3 + drivers) .ini attached. Still no luck. It will boot off IDE DVD drive but not SATA DVD drive on desktop, will not boot from SATA DVD drive on laptop (which is only DVD on that computer). Last_Session.ini

Opps, my bad I used the last session .ini with the time stamp without looking through it first. I did a search but most everything I came up with had to do with installing to a SATA hard drive not getting a SATA DVD drive to recognize an nLited CD to begin with. I believe the installed drivers are from Fernando 1. Here is the actual last session. Last_Session.ini

Has anyone had trouble booting from a SATA drive with their nLite'd CD? I am trying to install XP on a Gateway laptop w/Home Vista 64. I have intergrated both Intel and nVidia drivers (laptop ICH8M, desktop nVidia 680i MB's). I cannot get the laptop to even recognize the nLite CD let alone boot from it and testing on the desktop it will not boot from the SATA drive but it will boot from the IDE drive. Any help would be appreciated. nLited CD WinXP SP1 w/SP3, hotfixes, above drivers, WMP11 + hotfixes. Last session .ini attached. Last_Session__2009.04.19_08.10.43_.ini
