  1. without a doubt, go with BitLocker. efs is great, but many times, sensitive info can leak out to non-efs. going with full BDE (BitLocker Drive Encryption) eliminates this possibility. even the pagefile gets encrypted. each & every bit on every partition you BitLocker gets encrypted. don't be afraid of BitLocker. just do it. you'll thank yourself and the peace of mind you'll get will be a happy side effect. only one caveat: keep a copy of your key(s) and recovery password(s) in a secure place in case you lose the originals. i like to put them all in a compressed folder (which is really just a zip file) and then encrypt this folder using gpg. keep this encrypted zip file on an email server in case you need them in the future.
