  1. Their website might say that, but I am sure you will be able to get started without IE. I know a user on linux who uses verizon DSL without any issue. So I am sure without IE, you should be fine.
  2. I tried chatting with the network support staff at the ISP. All of them are clueless and blame it on the router's inability to forward the port. I tried one more test. I connected by cable modem directly to the computer. I am still getting a blocked port message. So its not the router. I guess the ISP doesn't know how to make the change.
  3. Hi Folks, I have a MOTOROLA CABLE MODEM and a NETGEAR wireless router. I have tried setting up the port forwarding for the wireless router. I still keep getting NAT Errors on my Azureus Client. I have installed Windows XP version 2002 with Service Pack2. The Azureus version is 2.3.0.6 I am not able to configure the NAT. I keep getting NAT errors. This is causing the downloads to be very slow. My ISP Is cOMCAST and I do not have any access to any of the ports. None of the ports are open, even if I connect directly to the cable modem. The second issue that I am facing is that the downloads have stopped at 81%. The message I get now is "The process cannot access the file because its being used by another process. Open Fails" I also tried to get the rest of the torrent by downloading one more torrent client (muTorrent). Its giving me the same error message. I am at my wits end. Any guidance will be appreciated. Cheers.
  4. Google is the store for most information. It wouldn't be surprising to know that some google crawler has your credit card information stored on the server. Ditto to M$. How do you know that Microsoft isn't visiting your computer and gathering information? Ah we are getting paranoid over here.
  5. The MSN Desktop Search is equally cool. I think you should give it a whirl.
  6. Well if you happen to be in school, you really cannot afford expensive software. Just so much easier to download using p2p and all that. Now with the advent of free operating systems, people find it easier to use freeware.
  7. Somebody I know is working http://www.personalinbox.com/ They are imitating gmail in every possible way.
  8. This looks cool. I usually use Microangelo to change the icons for me. I guess I am plain lazy.
  9. Why is a port scan attack? I am using Sygate personal firewall and it keeps on shouting that there is a port scan attack. I usually block the attack. It tries to access MSTask.exe Cheers, Mr Tired.

  13. Hi Folks, I keep getting the following message in event viewer. The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: MRxSmb NetBIOS NetBT RasAcd Rdbss Tcpip vsdatant I am able to boot my pc in win2K environment, but it fails to give me full color display. I am only able to boot in the safe mode or vga mode. If I try to boot normally, it gives me a blue screen. I have got all the service packs installed on my win2K professional edition. Please help me figure out this problem. Cheers! Mr Tired.
  14. How do I know it doesn't load? I get an error logged in the event log. When it doesn't load the display is all garbled up. I have downloaded the latest drivers for Nvidia card on an ASUS motherboard. Suprisingly, in my linux parition, things work fine. The drivers load correctly.
  15. There is some problem with windows XP and the nvdia driver doesn't load successfully everytime I start the machine.
