  1. After reading through a few threads on how to do this, i'm still a bit confused. I suppose i have to create a .reg file and paste in this: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120%\Info] "UserName"="your name" "Company"="something" "SerialNo"="serial" Filling in the relevant info, but what do i do then? How do i import this into the reg. This is the part that still confuses me. If ya can't write down in a few easy steps how to do this via a install.cmd file, then don't bother. The last thing i need is to be told to re-read stuff i've already read, and not understood. and is this waht i should use to install the prgram itself? (in my .cmd file) start /w %systemdrive%\install\Applications\Alcohol\setup.msi /qn REBOOT=REALLYSUPPRESS " /f
  2. the -R command didn't work!. I did read the tutorial. So i gave up on that installer temporarily, and started work on the ATI drivers, and tried -r aswell, but that didn't work either! While working on the ATI drivers package, i went browsing around on the installshield website, i noticed they had different syntax listed for different versions of their installers, so i tried "setup /r" and guess what, it made the iss file! So i then tried "setup -s" to do a silent install, and it didnt work. So i tried "setup /s" and it then installed silently. Maybe that should be included in FAQ somewhere for use with the ATI 4.8's... As for the Nforce drivers, i've now thrown hem in the winnt.sif file, and i hope they'll install right. I'll be testing later today. Thanks for the help!
  3. The setup.exe that comes with the package is actually an Installshield jobby! So i tried using the -S command, which worked, but the thing rebooted on me! So i ran setup.exe -R so i could create a new ISS file, which wouldn't reboot, but it rebooted on me again anyway! Looks like i'll be using the winnt.sf method.
  4. The java switch i never noticed in the guide, and as for Kerio, i believe it only mentioned Kerio Personal Firewall, whereas i have Kerio Winroute firewall, which i assumed was completly different, and wouldn't use the same switches. I searched for the getright switches, but it didn't seem to work for me, maybe i got capitalisation wrong. I'll try again.
  5. rofl, i just noticed the package came with in ISS file! which i think means i can do a silent install. I'm investigating that option now. I know i read something about ISS files in the tutorial thingy. If that doesn't work, i'll be doing the winnt.sf method. I'm from Ireland EDIT: Which is better if i want to use this CD on multiple computers. Using the ISS method, or using the winnt.sif method?
  6. Is it possible to reliably do a silent install for applications that don't seem to have a silent install switch? I used "InstallRite" to create two such packages, but then i thought of something. In this computer, they were installing to my E:. So when i created the silent install package using InstallRite, would that package always try install to the e:? Even when there is no e:? Is there a better way to do this? These are the programs i have left to add to my XP CD. I know all of these don't have silent install switches, but some might that i don't know about. kerio-kwf-6.0.4-win.exe j2re-1_4_2_05-windows-i586-p.exe quicktimealt133.exe realalt123.exe Azureus_2.1.0.4_Win32.setup.exe getrt510.exe GuildFTPd.exe zp403pro.exe
  7. i did a search, and these two threads are all i came up with: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...20737&hl=nforce http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...24892&hl=nforce The thing is, i don't know how to reference the stuff in winnt.sif. What exactly does that mean? I understand i have to move the files to the $OEM$ folder, but where exactly does everything have to go? So far if i unzip the driver package, i end up with several folders: AudioDrv Ethernet GART IDE MemCtl SMBus USB Do i just put them in the driver folder? Or do i have to put the contents in the driver folder? OR does it matter what i do?
  8. I'm competely new at this. How do i get these to be noticed and installed by windows when i do my silent install? I downloaded thispackage from the abit site. It seems to be for my motherboard. I'd need detailed instructions, or a nice tutorial link
