  1. While it's totally understandable that you'd like donations, and deserve to get something for your hard work, I nonetheless won't be using anything that holds my desktop look hostage with a watermark, or generates annoying popups until I fork over $$$...I for one think you made a bad call with those two things. Congrats on your accomplishment with this, but no thanks. I can live without Aero Glass for Win8.
  2. 12/06/2013 (6:14am Central Time) --- I just re-downloaded, checked the details of the file, and it's still 1.0.3 Will you be adding 1.0.4 soon Tihiy?
  3. God, you have got to be one smart guy to be able to do this stuff, Tihiy!-----And thanks so much for sharing your talent with us and the world. Without you, and other pioneers like you, everyone would be in sorry shape for sure! Updating now....
  4. Question: To customize these icons Do I customize my Shell32.dll in my System32 and SysWOW64 folders, or is there anything else I need to do with oldnewexplorer running? (perhaps this is a question Mark--MrGrim--can answer) I'm running Win8.1 Pro x64. Thanks in advance!
  5. Thanks Tihiy, just did that. Working great with Bitdefender and Firefox now----
  6. An issue I'm having: When I open my Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 and try to add anything to Excluded Processes, it crashes, asks to send a bug-report and restart Bitdefender.... I was going to add oldnewexplorercfg.exe to the allowed-list because Bitdefender popped up today telling me "Malicious software detected..." (oldnewexplorer). My final solution was to un-install oldnewexplorer, THEN add the process to Excluded Processes (allow-list). Bitdefender worked fine after oldnewexplorer was disabled. So, now I'm using oldnew again and have it in my allowed-list. I also have been having Firefox freeze and crash when trying to download files with the browser while the 'Use libraries; hide folders from This PC' was checked.
  7. It's working 100% flawlessly on my system, love it!----No issues or bugs whatsoever, at least yet. Store apps download/install fine, no black screens, loads quickly after re-boot..... I hope the final version will include some of MrGrim's additions also..... Great work Tihiy!
  8. "In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed are Kings..." --Desiderius Erasmus, 'Adagia' (1500) The nefarious entities we've come to think of as 'government' (actually, private corporations who have infiltrated, captured, and taken over our system) are definitely 1000-percent spying, at all times, in myriad ways. Cameras on every street-corner and parking-lot, and yes backdoors into your os. ADMITTED AND CONFIRMED. And the spying is only the tip of the iceberg. Watch some of Alex Jones' videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheAlexJonesChannel Many call him crazy, a "conspiracy-theorist" (the new buzzword used to marginalize people who aren't sheeple), but he's usually over 98% dead-on, this I know for a fact. Evolution is a theory, the actual conspiracies that make up the forces behind 'world government' are facts. With a little effort, you can find all the evidence for yourself. NSA backdoors have been built-in to Windows since before the Win'95 version. In fact, Microsoft has a 'liaison' office for the NSA right in the Microsoft complex. Google was created to be, from the very beginning, a spy-engine, funded by the CIA and NSA at the very start. Everyone loves Google, right? Google just 'has all the answers', right? Because it's designed as a network that craws the Web, linking keywords and search-terms, indexing EVERYTHING, logging EVERYTHING, storing EVERYTHING, all info accessed 24-hours-a-day by several agencies. Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, all of it....legs of the octopus. I like my Windows-running machine (right now Win8.1, on an HP Pavilion desktop) ok, but I treat it as a snake that will bite me if I "get too close". Believe me, that's a healthy attitude to have.

This is the same error I got, samesame, on my fully-activated copy, which I commented to MrGrim about at his deviantART upload of this mod. Look at my comment there, and his reply: http://mrgrim01.deviantart.com/art/Shell32-Details-Pane-Mod-for-Windows-8-1-Only-397884520
  10. My theme is neiio's 'Work For Windows 8', available at deviantART, modified graciously by MrGrim, due to a request I made recently in another thread here at MSFN, to be more compatible with the way Windows 8.1 displays text in the title-bar (MrGrim created 2 custom-mods of the theme, I'll link the thread below the screenshots, one with white text and one with no text, both easily configurable to hide the background image that MS has added to the title-bar texting). My wallpapers are custom-made by me, a set of 27 (rotating every 30-sec.) images that feature the Peugeot Onyx concept car, designed with RocketDock and RainMeter borders. RainMeter-skins in the right area are from 'Rainify', the peeled (left-top) one was made by gsw953, another great theme-maker/designer/jack-of-all-trades who's a member at deviantART, Virtual Customs, and several other great sites, AIMP3 skin is called Hearts Desire, timedate images (clock) are my creations, icons are Variations For Windows 8, a 7tsp icon-installer put together by UltimateDesktops (at deviantART), using original creations from GuillenDesign, also popular there at DA. System Properties image is a .png I made, applied with the program "Windows 7 System Properties Logo Changer", which works fine with Win8 and 8.1, RocketDock-skin/icons are my creations. Get MrGrim's modded version of the Work theme here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/169469-title-bar-text-and-background-in-windows-81/#entry1058139 (post # 10) Or from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/86tjmjnowavavju/Work_Grim_mod.zip
  11. Thanks Mark, but yes you get the credit if he says it's ok with him. Unless you just forbid it, that is, LOL! You're awesome man.
  12. Mark-----YOU ARE AWESOME MATE!-----I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I FREAKING LOVE YOU! (in a completely hetero way, of course, haha!) Thank you so much, my friend!---This site doesn't have 'Likes' or 'Thanks' modules, or I'd definitely add them to your post here. But what I will do, if it's OK with you, is 1st) ask neiio if I can re-up his modified versions of this theme (your mods) to mediafire, and, if he says yes, 2) ask YOU if you'd mind, and if YOU say yes, then 3) do a follow-up video to my 1st Win 8.1 video on my YouTube with the fixes you've modded. If both or one of you say 'No' however, I'll just keep this between us here and be happy you've found a way around yet another of Microflop's stupid "improvements".
  13. @ace2: I've tried the Aero Glass, along with the Alpha 1 and 2 mods for 8.1, the .dlls, editing the registry as instructed, etc.....to no avail. The program just doesn't work right on my computer, or I'm doing something very wrong. Errors, errors, errors. @DosProbie: Why is running a Win8 theme so peculiar? Win8 themes work fine in 8.1 for the most part. Sure, I know there are some differences, but many themes are made to run on both os-versions. Please explain EXACTLY how you got the Work theme to look like that?
  14. Hi everyone! I'm wondering if anyone here has had any success in finding a way to remove or hide the rectangle image that MS has added behind the text title on the title-bar in Win8.1? I know that changing the text color itself can be done in WSB (Style-Builder), by editing the color for the text in the Windows & Caption Buttons drop-downs, and I've been able to do that. But the rectangular background, something that isn't in the 'Dwm Window' in 8, but MS has idiotically included in 8.1, is driving me nuts! I'm currently using "Work for Windows 8", a dark-bordered theme by neiio (deviantART) http://neiio.deviantart.com/art/Work-for-Windows-8-337353688 Screenshot: 1)- As can be seen, the theme, at defaults, has the color for explorer window-text in the title bar as black (which I've changed to a light grey after making this capture) 2) and 3)- But other open windows, like the Control Panel and the frames around programs have the irritating image behind the title bar texting. Sure, I can change the text to black, I think, but the rectangle will still show. Even adjusting the color settings in Personalize doesn't touch it. I've tried stuff with the Registry.....can't seem to change it....I'm at a loss. It's driving me bonkers!!!! I hope someone smarter than me can (or has) find a way to either get rid of it completely or edit it for dark themes. Thanks ahead of time to anyone who responds!
