  1. Hi jaclaz, Currently, I am using a 200 GB SATA drive without a problem. As far as the BIOS not detecting 320/500 GB, I am not sure how I can troubleshoot this issue. The board is already updated with the latest BIOS and I have checked the SATA cable connections thoroughly. Again, I have tried the jumper setting on the drive to be SATA 1, but nothing seems successful. The drives cannot be bad or dead as they are new. Thanks.
  2. Hi Tripredacus, Thanks for your feedback. I have already the latest BIOS (P25) for this board, and currently, both the PATA and SATA are enabled in the BIOS. As far as I can tell, that is the only option related to the SATA setting in the BIOS. Maybe, 320/500 GB SATA are not just supported by this board.
  3. Hi, I have an Intel 865 GBF board (Pentium 4 3.2 GHz Prescott) with 2 SATA slots. I am trying to install 500 GB and/or 320 GB SATA drives, but the BIOS would not detect neither one. I heard about SATA 1 mode for this board, so I tried a proper jumper setting on the drive, but did not work. Has anyone made either a 320 GB or 500 GB SATA drive work on this board? Thanks.
  4. Hi, Yes, I have tried with a new power supply but unsuccessful. I tried removing everything except the agp video card and system memories, and the problem still persists. Basically, my monitor says, "power saving mode." I looked at the computer power and hard drive lights and they are both on. The only thing that makes the computer boot is when I put in a brand new hard drive. Only then, I can get into the BIOS setting and boot the computer as well. However, this is only a temporary relief. As soon as the computer is either restarted or shutdown and powered on, I get the same message "power saving mode" and the computer will not boot nor can I access the BIOS. I searched about this board and its power saving mode, and it appears that several people have already experienced this and ended up exchanging their boards. Obviously, my board is already out of its warranty, but since it is almost in a brand new condition, I am just curious if anyone has fixed this issue. Thanks.
  5. Hi, Thanks. But, I checked all of the internal cables and they look okay. Just today, I was installing Linux on this system and the progress was about half way through before the computer got frozen. So, I rebooted the system for several times to resume my install but to no avail. Now, I am back to this old issue where the computer will not power up, and my monitor says that it is in some power saving mode. Through out it all, the system has both the power and hard drive lights on. I am just curious now why I was able to play with the Linux Live install for some time, and the system would not boot at all. I cannot even go into the BIOS setting at all unless I change my hard drive. But then, the computer will not boot again at all with both power and hard drive lights on. Anybody has any ideas? Thanks.
  6. Hi, I have an Intel 865GBF board for my Pentium 4 system. The computer will not power on unless I take out the CMOS battery and put it back in. I replaced with a new CMOS battery but still the same thing. I also checked the power supply and the board has its power light lit up always even the computer has already been shut down. I suppose this is the board's way of letting know that the power is being supplied. It's just that the computer will not power up unless the CMOS battery is taken out and put back in. So, I figure the CMOS battery and the power supply cannot be the culprits in this case. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
  7. Hi, I am curious if I can replace the mobile Pentium 4 (socket 478) in my ThinkPad with desktop Pentium 4 (socket 478). If so, has anyone done it and how easy was it? I have never upgraded a laptop before but plenty of times for my desktops. Thanks.
  8. Hi, I have ThinkPad R32. The battery won't charge at all in Vista Home Basic. I wonder if the battery is dead. How can I know for sure? Thanks.
  9. Hi, If I physically disconnect the network cable and reconnect it once the network connectivity icon appears on the system tray, the reconnect happens almost immediately. When there's no connectivity icon on the system tray, I even tried pinging the wireless router and that works okay. Even the task manager shows that the network is in operational mode. So, I just don't know what's causing this significant delay before the connectivity icon shows up on the system tray. Until that happens, I can't connect to the Internet at all. Thanks.
  10. Hi, I am using XP with SP 3. I'm noticing that my network card is taking too long for it to be activated. Because it takes about 7 or so minutes even after the system has already started, it seems that the network activation always happens at last. If there is an order of system services start up, how can I ensure the network starts the first in XP Home? Thanks.
  11. Hi, I am installing SP1 for Vista Home Basic. The download and install stages are fine except on 3/3 configuration stage during the install after reboot fails even though 3/3 configuration stage reaches 100%. My system just falls back to its restore mode. Here, I'm not running any antivirus but only the default windows' firewall. Thanks.
  12. Hi, Thanks for your comments. By pressing F8 prior to install screen, I was able to resolve my issue through safe mode. Now, my install is complete.
  13. Hi, I have an asrock p4v88 board where I am trying to add a new sata drive and set it up as a raid drive. Currently, I have one primary ide drive with vista home basic on it that I am trying to clone onto the new sata drive. Upon booting, my system bios doesn't see the sata drive at all. I followed the directions given by asrock for setting a sata raid drive by enabling it in the bios, but didn't work. Has anyone made this attempt successful on this board? Or any other suggestions? Thanks.
  14. Hi, I have a drive with vista home basic on it, using only half of the drive, and the other half of the drive is unallocated for the moment. How can I claim the unallocated space into one single drive in vista? Thanks.
  15. Hi, The vista home basic oem install screen is unreadable. The screen appears in text mode during the early graphic install stage. So, is there a way to install vista in text mode somehow? Or, how can I change into a proper graphic mode. Perhaps, the grapic card is unsupported for vista home basic oem? Thanks.
