About havoc77

  1. I know that I am totally asking for trouble here but... Anyone have any luck (or desire) to slipstream IE7 into XP? I have looked around the other posts and could not see it discussed anywhere else, so thought I would start a new topic. Internet Explorer Administration Kit 7 has been released, but dont think that helps in any case.
  2. Thanks for all the help, but I now have all my problems solved!! It looks like all my problems came from having the wrong version of KB905915. Since I got a new copy of it I now have everything working. All I have left to do now is burn it to a blank DVD and format my hard drive. Thanks again.
  3. > The new KB912945 in SVC-HF1 is the successor to KB905915 I am not so sure that is correct. When i deleted them both from xpcreate, did a fresh install and ran win update it told me i needed both. KB905915 was tagged as a critical update, and KB912945 was an optional one. I found out my problem with KB905915 not installing too. I downloaded a fresh copy and it was 1 mb bigger than the version I had, so I either had some old version or a version not for WinXP. My new one works fine in HF1. My previous question about .NET FRAMEWORK 2 was that it did not do a silent install when I ran it from RunOnceEX.cmd. As I guessed I had to unpack the download file with the /c switch, and it works great now! So my current status is that I just have to work out KB912945 and then I will have 100% of updates installed.
  4. Also look at What Goes Where and you can look at existing updates you already have with the /? switch to see what options are supported in each folder. But your best bet is to look at latest update files thread.
  5. Everything seems to slipstream ok but now I get an error before windows starts for the first time: If I hit open I get a blank Internet Exploder page and then nothing continues. If I hit cancel, the same thing.. setup just hangs and does not continue to the next step (create user account, auto update, firewall, register questions, etc) If I do a restart at this point then setup will continue, and runs through my RunOnceEx.cmd additions ok. The system I am left with has a broken IE that cannot connect to the internet and does not even let me go into the settings from the menu! I have a theory that a particular update has done this, so will do ( yet another ) rebuild of the cd until I track it down.... UPDATE: Just as I thought, it was the WindowsXP-KB912945-x86-ENU.exe update causing the problem! Has anyone else had a problem with this update? WindowsXP-KB905915-x86-ENU.exe is still giving me a problem too, I no longer get an error during install but update is not applied.
  6. Not sure if this is all on the other thread, but here is my impression of how it all works (correct me if I am wrong!) In your XP Create root folder you should have a file called XPCREATE.CAB If you open with winzip or similiar you will see it is full of .oem files for all different SATA controllers. If your sata controller is not listed it may still be possible for you to make a .oem file yourself (but this is tricky and not needed in this case) You are fine since there should be a Si3114r.oem file there (I run a Sil 3112 myself) I believe that your files need to go in a folder of the same name as your .oem file? (not 100% sure about this) So basically put your files in [xpcreate dir]\FILESCD\$OEM$\$1\Drivers\SIL3114r\ and make the iso again. These are what my files look like: (don't need all of these) files: 12,362 readme.txt 17,922 si3112r.cat 43,549 Si3112r.inf 97,920 Si3112r.sys 22,096 SiiSupp.vxd 69,120 SilSupp.cpl 10,240 SIWinAcc.sys 11,031 TxtSetup.oem
  7. Looks like it all worked, but had to move WindowsXP-KB905915-x86-ENU.exe to the SVC-HF2 folder. Also the .net 2.0 package did not do a silent install... I am guessing I was supposed to unpack it first with /c switch? I am trying again now to test it...
  8. Arigato Tinywoods! I think I have it sorted out now, will let you know my results.
  9. This may seem like a simple question, especially since it seems no one else has asked it, but how do I use the RunOnceEx.cmd file from your example? I assume that I put it somewhere along with all the update files, and once my WinXP is installed for the 1st time it will run the script automatically? Thanx
  10. Here is my list for Win2K After install, windows update reports 0 high priority updates needed, and the only "optional software" update is "Root Certificates Update". If anyone knows a download link for that it would be nice! I had no problems with the IE update either. ____________________ SVC-CF2 GDITOOL.EXE IE6.0sp1-KB823353-x86-ENU.exe SVC-CF3 IE6.0sp1-KB887797-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB896727-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe oe6.0sp1-KB897715-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB890046-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB891861-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB893756-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB894320-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB896358-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB896422-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB896423-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB899587-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB899588-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB901214-x86-ENU.EXE SVC-DAH ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.EXE SVC-HF1 IE6.0sp1-KB867282-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB889669-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe Q818043_W2K_SP5_x86_EN.EXE Windows2000-KB329115-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB820888-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB822831-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB823182-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB823559-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB824105-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB825119-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB826232-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB828035-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB828741-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB828749-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB835732-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB837001-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB839645-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB840315-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB840987-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB841356-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB841533-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB841872-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB841873-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB842526-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB871250-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB873333-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB873339-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB885250-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB885834-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB885835-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB885836-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB888113-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB890047-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB890175-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB891711-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB891781-x86-ENU.EXE WindowsMedia9-KB837272-ENU.exe WindowsMedia9-KB885492-x86-ENU.exe WindowsMedia-KB832353-ENU.exe SVC-HF2 IE6.0sp1-KB833989-x86-ENU.exe JournalViewer1.5_KB886179_ENU.exe rootsupd.exe scripten.exe Windows-KB870669-x86-ENU.exe SVC-MRT Windows-KB890830-V1.7A-ENU.exe SVC-MSX NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe NDP1.1sp1-KB886903-X86.exe SVC-PRE DX9C.EXE SVC-QCH Q815062_W2K_spl_X86_EN.exe SVC-WMP MPSetup.exe SVC-X2M dotnetfx.exe msxml3.msi setup.exe
