  1. I deinstalled KERNELEX, updated to SP3 Beta3, reinstalled KERNELEX and now the VLC Player problem is gone! I see the funny new BOOTLOGO :-) And ASPI is in! Thank you very much!
  2. German SP3.0 Beta: OK. I installed it. I did an comlete Reinstall of my Windows. First WIN98SE. Then IE6, .NET 1&2, DirectX, Mediaplayer and other MS Stuff. Then SP3, NUUSB, IE6SP1_2.4 from the German SP3 site and then i did an official WindowsUpdate. I found 5 Problems in SP3: 1. Adaptec ASPI Update don't not install altough the box is checked. 2. New Logos don't install altough the box is checked. 3. In Netmeeting the "Remote Desktop Freigabe" in Extras is grayed out and can't be activated somehow. With SP2 i worked. I use it at home because my Laptop is tooo slow to run Firefox so i always used Netmeeting to control my Big PC via WLAN wich worked very well. 4. Sometimes VLC 0.8.6d crashes when first opening an FLV. Then it can't be terminated in any way. I had this bug 2 Windowsinstallations before too but now with my new Installation he is back. Of course there are other things updated then so i can't swear it is the SP but i don't think it's Firefox etc. 5. WindowsUpdate offers 4 Updates. Three of them are for DirectX, Mediaplayer and MDAC. But the com_microsoft.891781_98_SP1_WinSE_298 looks strange to me. Shouldn't this come with SP3? I decompressed the SP3 and found the KB Number within it. I also extracted the Update and the file is already there. So maybe there is only some registry information missing to inform WindowsUpdate that this update is already installed. Regards, Andreas
  3. Hi, sorry for posting again. My story is on the last 2 pages. Everything works. I did a new installation. This time i installed the drivers before the SP. The order of installation has no effect. I needed one more restart because one application that belongs to a driver needed a restart aftrer updating msvcrt, -vcp and mfc42. When i installed this app after SP all theses files where already there. The effect with the networkoptions is still the same. The first time i clicked ok in network options windows was updating the driver-database (i hope this is the correct translation from german). And everytime after clicking ok, even without clicking anything else than ok, windows copies ndis.vxd from sp2 and a second file wich i can't catch because the windows disappears too fast. Bye,
  4. Thank you very much for your Answer. And sorry for posting the question here. I didn't mention that the whole subforum is dedicated to the SP. I was confused because i cant't rememer that ndis activity in my previous installation where i tried the sp first. I did a new one because of so many changes in the system and i forgot the 'line up' mentioned on the german side (first ie, dx, drivers,sp,windows update) and i installed the SP and WU before the drivers. All Microsoft Stuff first and than the rest was my motto (i hope this word exists in english). Regards,
  5. Hello, i found something unusual with my latest german SP2.1B (german). After i installed a TV (BT848) and a NIC (3C905) there is a stange thing after changing network options (TCP IP for example). I installed SP2.1B before those cards. Aufter installing the btwincap wdm driver for the BT848 the network icon on desktop appeard. I wanted to restart after installation but there came the message that one task is busy. I clicked on wait and after some time there was a normal restart. I remeber that there are somtimesm, after a driver installation seems finisched, there ist still activity in the background copying files from the win98 dir. aufter that i installed the driver for the nic and set ip adresses, gateway, dns, name, workgroup, domain, ipx ,file and printerscharing. ater restart everything works. the unusial thing ist that after clicking ok in the network options, even if i clicked nothing but ok, the ndis.vxd is always copied from SP2.CAB. Is this normal or did something went wrong? Bye,
