  1. I'm running the trial version of Nod32... I haven't seen another AVS so perfect, and clean functioning... When the trial is over, I'll be purchasing Nod32... Now the really hard thing.. finding a firewall that really works to protect W98se and Seamonkey...
  2. Why not just forget about IE and OE.., They are leaky and risky, and the general targets of bully hacker attackers... Get the updated 6.. Leave them in the OS, because they are integral in operation of the Windows OS.. and block IE and OE with a good firewall, leaving them sealed-up in their little boxes... then load Seamonkey 1.1, which gives you much faster/safer/cleaner browser and email tools.. and the plus is that Seamonkey is crammed full of treasures and features that no other browser has...
  3. I downloaded a few nudie pix, to practise my photo-editing.. and when PP8 was loading my new pix file, it locked up, then crashed... Uninstalls and reinstalls didn't fix it... Reg cleaners, and Registry search & destroys didn't fix it... Seemed the only way to fix it was to format-C... I contacted PhotoPlus Tech Support... They suggested three good idea things to try, which didn't help... I finally repaired the damage done to PhotoPlus8... It was a sterrretch!.. Took about five-hours... Uninstalled PhotoPlus6 & 8... Run CM DiskCleaner's registry cleaner, search & destroy, using "select key search words", for everything serif and photoplus... Run "McAfee Uninstaller's PowerClean.. deleting everything "photoplus" and "serif"... Reboot... Install PP8 CD... (But now the picture files wouldn't load in PP8's window... Seemed the PC was trying to load the pix-file from floppy, even without me commanding it to search A... Maybe that's the area in where the goonies did there dirty-work to damage PP8's functionality..? Probably was a little bit damage to both the Windows system & PP8).. Reinstalled PP8 over the first install, in hopes it would repair the program... Reboot... It did.. Now PP8 works... but a little slow..? Maybe the OS just needs a scandisking & defragging... I hope I didn't damage the OS by stripping out so much of it... For this install I had Uninstaller monitor the install, making snapshots of the registry, before and after the install.. just in case... _______________________ I sent a complaint post to the website that damaged my PC... They replied, they did nothing wrong, and that I was "stealing free samples"...
  4. Thanks Nic... it's like I just pulled a thorn out of me foot... oh sigh... I was so wedged in the bushes that I just couldn't see the trees fer the forest... Too bad there isn't a red and white squibs, in place of that silly tree leaf... Is there a chance you are blood related to the ancient Pirate bloodlines?..
  5. I'm born Canadian.. I very much love this country, from coast to coast, but I am not proud of this nation's politics... The Canadian government, at every level, treats our people like dead-squid, at best... I would prefer to not have that goofy red and white maple leaf flag illustrated with my name.. Maple trees are for shade and syrup, not to be used as people tags... It's like "wearing ones poop as jewelry"... How do I eliminate that offensive irritating flag from showing with my posts?..
  6. Re: "Ripping out IE"... I tried that a couple times.. and quickly discovered that it seriously messed up the system so bad that I had to format-C... I tried the "IE & OE Removers", and still it wrecked the operating system, forcing me to format-C... It seems that IE & OE are integral parts of the 98 operating system.. or, parts of IE & OE are integral parts of the 98 OS... What parts?.. Are those parts replaceable, without installing IE & OE?.. Is there a safe methodical way to rip out IE, without the rip-out taking-out crucial operating system components?..
  7. Running W98se, Compaq desktop, 600mghtz, 6gig... Is there a simple core way to destroy and/or neutralize all the auto-updaters in W98se? by taking out a bit of the OS.. yet still permit manual updating, of the AVS, firewall, and various peripheral softwares..? Reason: I find when I'm on a roll in creative writing or pix editing.. when an auto-updater initiates, it momentarily sucks up all the RAM.. thereby momentarily locking-out the mouse and keyboard.. which can too easily crash a fragile creative roll... I am experiencing problems with various AVS's.. in that, no matter what I do to try to shut down their auto updaters, they continue to attempt their firewall-blocked connections, momentarily sucking up all the RAM every five minutes... It's like it isn't my PC anymore... I had to dump the AVS just to get a little peace from the updaters... The AVS companies all advise to disable their updaters, in their scheduler and/or advanced windows... I do that, and still the updaters try to connect every five minutes... I even tried stripping out registry keys, and uninstalling updaters and schedulers, to no avail... The last bit of expert advice, I tried, was to try AVG's latest build.. so yesterday I did.. and it locked-up reboot, as it has the last ten-times I tried AVG over a five year time-period... I had to go into safe-mode to uninstall AVG, just to get the PC working again.. and in some previous attempts, I had to format-C to get my computer back... Seems this trying to make W98se secure, is like trying to fly by flapping your arms real fast... Please Advise... What's a best or suitable AVS for Seamonkey in W98se.. and has anybody actually left the ground by flapping real hard?..
  8. Oops!.. sorry... I will... In topic W98se updates.. It seems that a few of the folks who worked on building the original W98's are still evolving their baby... Maybe a few die hards who just can't let their Precious fade into oblivion..? Does anybody have links to their project websites?.. namely for their latest experimental registry updates... Who is it who is built this "W98se unofficial updater"?.. and what is the link to their latest ongoing breakthroughs?..
  9. In topic "W98se updaters"... I am running W98se, Compaq desktop, 600mghtz, 6gig... Is there a simple core way to DESTROY all the updaters in 98se?.. yet still permit manual updating?.. Reason: I find when I'm on a roll in creative writing or pix editing.. when an auto updater initiates, it momentarily sucks up all the RAM.. thereby momentarily locking out the mouse and keyboard.. which can too easily crash a creative roll... Please Advise...
  10. Download F-Prot trial... If your PC caught natas, you'll need to format C...
  11. Sometimes having troubles in accessing websites and forums, is a logjam of old browser cache and cookies... If you are running an after-market browser, it might be time to clean out the old configurations if you've been updating the thing a lot... Save your favorites in a word file, uninstall the browser, run a search and destroy, in Find and Regedit for everything related to that browser, reboot, and install the new download... While you're at it run regedit to destroy: macromedia, backweb, desktopmessenger, showbehind, and shockwave.. then run all the features in Power Defragger... The surface scan is crucial, given that even new hard drives can develop bad clusters... Check-out Seamonkey 1.1.. It has a spell checker at work as you compose on the Net...
  12. Install Spybot, then do a regedit search for one of the spyware names you know... It will get you into the HUGE list of trojans that Spybot blocks... Write to those who write Spybot... They have been very helpful to me.. and they are easy to talk to...
  13. To catch a pile of trojans, surf "sword cursor", and install the softwares... There's one that gives your PC 80 malwares... As for a way to beat spywares, I think you need to write a software that acts as an "antibody" by removing and/or adding stuff to the trojan on it's way in, to make it a benign trojan... Maybe there should be an indicator on all emails, telling how many bytes are in the email.. From what I understand, most bugs are approximately 32kb.. while most emails are about 10kb... Maybe recognized trojans can be instantly shunted into a dump before they take hold..? We shouldn't have to fear the sites that pump out trojans.. we should have the options to deal with what sets in our private PC's... The one I like, is I open suspect emails in my iMac... When an email has a bug, I get a pop up saying, "the system doesn't know what to do with this program"... Most bugs are created on PC... The other one I like is Tiny Personal Firewall... It detects everything trying to connect to the Net, and will pop up a warning.. and just in case TPF also wants to connect to the Net, I block it too.. and just leave the little bugger working as an inside firewall...
  14. Ok.. so you're not into killer viruses yet... I'll save it in a file.. and if you ever want to play with the worstest meanest SOB GD PC killer bug, the offer remains dormant... You might want to check it out the next time you decide to format your crap computer, just to get a feel for how mean natas is... Your disease awaits sir, or madame...
  15. You ain't delt with an Internet bug till your PC has caught natas... it destroys the OS faster than you can say "oops"... I've got an unopened email: "eBay.. Unpaid Item Dispute #130929582620", in my Yahoo email account, that most likely has natas in it... This is the same MO that injected natas into my PC a couple months ago.. from some christian defender little nutcase momma's boy... Thing is, I haven't bid on anything in eBay... Now I only open these suspect emails in one of my junk computers, and forward them to <spoof@ebay.com>... then I format-C, drop in the Windows CD, and click the mouse... That's about all you can do with natas... I would change my password temporarily, to a password of your choosing... If you want to open this email to have some fun with natas, PM me at <extremesciences@yahoo.com>...
