Re-integrate / re-install USB audio support in XP?

Hello,

I used nlite to slim down a windows XP(32) CD (SP3 slipstreamed). Unfortunately, I inadvertently left out the USB audio support - a mistake since my webcam, a logitech C250, has an integrated microphone which is now not detected and therefore not working. I also happen to have a USB microphone, but same problem - won't be detected or installed properly since USB audio support is missing.
Is there a way to re-install USB audio support? Through an external ASIO driver perhaps? This might work for the standalone mic if I find the right driver, but what about the webcam's mic?

Thank you for your help!

I'm trying to figure out how to automate the behavior of hidden icons in the Notification Area, specifically for the Outlook "New Mail Message" icon.
Install IE8 on 2003 without Windows Update?

This is madness. Full IE8 installer for Windows 2003 won't install if Windows Update is not around, although options are unchecked. Traced with ProcMon, it stops on class {4CB43D7F-7EEE-4906-8698-60DA1C38F2FE}. Although I faked empty strings of InprocServer32 and LocalServer32, which usually works for other checks, including some Microsoft's, this time it won't give in. I guess it tries to communicate through COM. There is no chance of reinstalling Windows Update here, ever. I've looked into the .inf's, but I can't seem to find anything that would prohibit installation or looking for prerequisites, but I'm not that good with inf's. Installing through right click on .inf's leaves the system in mixed state where much of IE6 is still left.

The installer is downloaded from http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/5/0/7507EBD5-0193-4B7F-9F14-9014C7EB5C67/IE8-WindowsServer2003-x86-ENU.exe
and I'm absolutely positive it's the one needed.

I've tried YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Nosetuperr_ENU_1_4_11, but it also won't install through inf's, and I vaguely remember that integration in source didn't work (missing file). Yes, I have done the instructions for 2003.

For now, I've just copied some (most) of the files where they're supposed to be, but there are some unknowns (.mui files all over the place), according to a clean install on XP on VirtualBox, but maybe there is a difference in locations for 2003? Regsvr'ing them is done, as far as I can see, no problems there, but I would prefer a "proper" solution.

So here is the question: How can I install IE8 on a live system without Windows Update?. I suspect it's the same thing with XP, not only with 2003. Google had nothing to say.

Setup Server 2008 R2 Behind Router For Vpn Access

Hi there,
Hope someone can help as I'm onto my 3rd day of trying to figure this out.
I have a server with Server 2008 R2, I am trying to set it up so that I can access a shared area from another site.
The server is behind a router with a static ip.
1. I have installed Network Policy and Access Services role (NPAS) and configured RRAS to allow vpn connections
2. I have changed changed the servers network connection ip to use the static ip, subnet mask and gateway etc (i got these from my router homepage).
3. I tried to then install active directory as suggested in http://www.buchatech.com/2010/06/ho... however when following this through the dns server fails to recognise any static ip's on the network adapters.
When I try to connect from the client by setting up a new connection I get the error: The remote connection was not made because the attempted VPN tunnels failed. The VPN server might be unreachable. If this connection is attempting to use an L2TP/IPsec tunnel, the security parameters required for IPsec negotiation might not be configured properly. (the credentials i am using are the static ip address and a username and password of a user account I have setup on the server???)
Not sure if its because i'm using foundation edition. Is there an idiots guide to setting up the server behind a router? Whats the best way to connect from the client?
Any help is really appreciated and could save me alot of earache from the gaffer
Thanks

Integration of VIA's RAID driver

I have tried via v raid driver package from the via site, jetway drivers from thier site, the 32 whql and modded version from this thread. No luck whatsoever every time I get the viamrx64.sys is corrupt. I am not adding the x64 version of the drivers I am specifying the x86 or 32 bit version and only doing 1 at a time to weed out the problem it hasn't worked yet. I am not loading last session when I start nlite. I can not figure this out. Any advice would be helpful.

Since some users with a VIA RAID system obviously are running into problems, if they integrate VIA's officially released RAID driver package, I have started this thread.
Many of these problems are caused by the content of the TXTSETUP.OEM file, which has been added by VIA. This file is very important for the detection of the RAID during the first (TEXTMODE) part of the XP resp. XP x64 installation.

Just to minimize the risk of the later Windows XP/XPx64 installation failure, I have customized the TXTSETUP.OEM files of the latest 32/64bit VIA RAID drivers dated 11/18/2010. After having done that I have repacked and uploaded them to a file hoster.

Here are the download links:
>32bit VIA RAID driverpack v6.01 customized< (only for Windows XP)

Additional remarks:

Start the nLite processing with a fresh copy of an untouched XP/XPx64 CD content and don't load any Last_Session.ini file.

If your XP CD doesn't already contain the Service Pack 3, you should integrate it too. Attention: The integration procedure should be done within a Windows XP (32bit) environment.
XP x64 users should integrate the Service Pack 2 for XP x64 from within a 64bit environment.

During the nLite processing you should make sure, that the VIA RAID driver will be integrated as TEXTMODE driver and not as PnP driver. Usually nLite will do it automaticly, when the driver is associated by a file named TXTSETUP.OEM.

If you want to minimize of a later XP Setup failure, you should not use all offered nLite processing options at once.
This is what nLite should do:

Integration of the latest Service Pack (if not already included)

Integration of the VIA RAID driver (32bit for XP, 64bit for XP x64) as Textmode driver.

Creation of the ISO file or using the nLite option of directly burning the XP/XPx64 CD as bootable image

As last step you have to burn the ISO file, which has been created by nLite, as bootable image (unless you had already chosen the direct burning option of nLite).

If you want to get some additional informations regarding the integration of a textmode driver into a Windows XP/XPx64 CD and about the most common problems during the later OS installation, you may look into the start post of >this< thread.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Good luck!

Nvidia PCI-E GeForce series 6 cards in Windows 98

So far I have confirmed the official Nvidia driver packages 71.84, 77.72 and 81.98 do have support for PCI-E GeForce 6800, 6600 and 6200. The problem is, it is necesary to skip the installer and to select the card manualy, when istalling.

NV40 GeForce 6800 - I was unable to test it
NV43 GeForce 6600 - Works very well with 77.72 and 71.84. The 81.98 comes with shutdown problems.
NV43 GeForce 6200 - The initial release of the 6200 came from degraded 6600 chips - untested but should work.
NV44 GeForce 6500 - no entry in the inf section, support unknown
NV44 GeForce 6200 - I'm not sure if all the PCI-E 6200 NV44 came with the Turbo Cache function. In any case these do not seem to be working correctly.
NV44a, NV44a2 GeForce 6200 - I do not know if they are available in PCI-E versions. According to my research they should be just in AGP and PCI versions.

I've been testing the cards on HP DC7100 with Intel 915 chipset. But, I did not test the 3D functions.

I'm curious about:
- Do the official Nvidia packages provide support for the NV40 and NV43 chips with PCI-E? Or perhaps it is possible to use the NV44 as well.
- Are there NV44 PCI-E 6200 cards without Turbo Cache?
- Are there NV44a and NV44a2 PCI-E 6200 cards?

Informations gathered:
- NVidia GeForce 6200 cards with Turbo Cache are not working correctly in Windows 98 with both official and unofficial drivers.
- Nvidia official driver support ends at GeForce 6800. Compatible Hardware with Windows 9x
- The GeForce 6800 NV40 chip is the oldest one from the GeForce 6 series. The newest is NV44 61xx,6200,6500. The NV43 6600 is clearly supported in the official Nvidia drivers. Wkipedia - GeForce 6 Series
