Hi! Can someone tell me the correct steps needed to slipstream/integrate them? I read, at hfslip.org, that the "WMP11 Package" needs to be uncompressed in HF\WMP11. Is that the full package (wmp11-windowsxp-x86-ES-ES.exe in my case) or only the "WMP11.exe" file which is inside of it? is this obsolete now and I should just copy the installer in HF (like wmp10) ? I also need kb898543? will it work with non-english windows? (it doesn't matter if it says "please wait" in english and not in the correct language) Also, IE7 is now not slipstreamed, but integrated, it should go in HFSVCPACK, right? thanks in advance! Oh, and BTW, instructions should be suited for the latest release of HFSLIP (1.2.1) This post has been edited by jvidal: Dec 17 2006, 01:19 PM |

hi jvidal! this may help: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=85856 to quote from Extended changelog for HFSLIP 1.2.1 QUOTE General updates: & from Extended changelog for HFSLIP 1.2.0[XPSP2]IE7 is now installed at first GUI logon by default unless you add IE7SVCPACK=1 into HFANSWER.INI Downside: you'll have to reboot manually afterwards QUOTE General updates: [XPSP2]IE7 is integrated into SVCPACK instead of slipstreamed Additional BRANDING.CAB compiled with IEAK7 is not taken account of for now [XPSP2] introducing WMP11 slipstreaming The WMP11 package (Nov 2nd or newer) must be extracted into HF\WMP11, and KB898543-v3→ must be present in HF. The purpose of KB898543-v3 is to overcome an error in the MSOOBE application that breaks the Windows post-setup wizard among others when slipstreaming certain applications such as WMP11. On English systems, KB898543-v3 is slipstreamed as a whole while on other systems only msobmain.dll and the security catalog file are slipstreamed. Obsolete: HMTCDWizard_xxx.exe, MP10Setup.exe, wmfdist95.exe, wmcsetup.exe and Media9/10 hotfixes. Known issue for non-English systems: because the English version of msobmain.dll from KB898543-v3 is slipstreamed, you'll see the message "Please wait..." below the Windows logo right after Windows setup adjusts the screen resolution instead of the translated text; to work around this, you can use a localized version of KB894871 instead of the English-only KB898543-v3, but you'll have to call Microsoft to get it because it's a non-public hotfix. Also, IE7 is now not slipstreamed, but integrated, it should go in HFSVCPACK, right? goes into HF

jvidal--- With 7-zip, WinRAR, or another advanced decompressor installed, right-click on the installer file and select Extract to "wmp11-windowsxp-x86-ES-ES\". Then rename the folder to WMP11 or wmp11 (or whatever case variations you like). The reason for this ugly method is because the installer can't be extracted from DOS (gives an error). I don't know if KB898543 is needed for a Spanish Windows XP, but I'm willing to bet it is. You can always test without it if you like. You'll know you need it if you get an error message after you let Windows setup adjust the screen resolution and the post-setup wizard is bypassed. IE7 goes in HF. Everything goes in HF unless stated otherwise. |

Thanks, but I still don't know what to do with wmp11... should I use wmp11-windowsxp-x86-???.exe or just wmp11.exe? compressed, uncompressed???? in HF or in HF\wmp11 ???? ie7 should go in HF, untouched, right? Ok, everything went fine, except that after installing windows, automatic updates offered me: kb911564 (windows media). wtf??? this is a really old patch, shouldn't be needed with wmp11... and kb924191, don't know why, this update didn't show up in my "real world" windows... |

that's good to hear! kindly post your hfslip.log ... KB924191 has something to do with MS06-061: Vulnerabilities in Microsoft XML Core Services could allow remote code execution while KB911564 is a Security Update for Windows Media Player Plug-in ... this is there if you are using wmp10 (?) Hi! Well, added the missing hotfixes, rebuilt the iso, re-installed and now it's working just fine.I'm writing this from my virtual windows installation (using vmware). BTW, is there a way to auto-reboot after installing IE7? what about calling "shutdown -r -t x" right after calling the IE7 installer? where "x" is the time in seconds before the system will reboot. Also, which IE6 hotfixes should I remove? (i mean, not put in HF). bye! edit: BTW, can I add kb915865 to the mix? This post has been edited by jvidal: Dec 17 2006, 04:58 PM |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but KB911564 is still needed even when installing WMP11 because it replaces something that exists across all Windows Media component programs.

Perfect! all HFs slipstreamed, no additional ones need to be installed afterwards, IE7 & WMP11 working perfectly too. thanks a lot, guys! Although, I'm still wondering why a reboot command cannot be inserted after installing IE7 on the first GUI boot... bye! |

Because it might break the installation of several programs that are installed at "GuiRunOnce". What's a good time frame? We don't know. It depends on the speed of the computer and the amount of programs to be installed. If you know the command, you can experiment with it yourself in SOURCESS\I386\HFSLPGUI.CMD. |

How about inserting it into HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce at the bottom of the list? (for example) I still think you'll keep looking into this issue, right? You don't know how grateful I am. Hfslip is incredibly useful and saves me a LOT of time...plus it's fun to use |

I'm using the latest version of HFSLIP, 1.21 and I can't get IE7 to install. I dump the IE7 exe file that I downloaded from MS into the HF folder and it doesn't work. @Sgt_Strider: What exactly doesn't work? Is IE7 simply not installed? Do you get an error message? For WMP11, use a program such as 7-Zip or WinRAR. Right-click on wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe and extract the contents into a folder. Rename the folder WMP11 and place the folder itself (i.e. not just the files) into HF. |
