  1. Introduction: This list was created for the purpose of documenting final versions of software to support Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008. It is actively maintained by the Windows Vista community here on MSFN and edited by myself, so if you have any additions that you'd like to add that aren't found on the list currently, feel free to reply with them and I will add them as soon as possible. However, please avoid suggesting abandoned, useless, obsolete, or deprecated pieces of software (especially web browsers) that have been discontinued on Windows as a whole. If the software was well known and widely used (i.e. Winamp, Apple Quicktime), then the addition is welcome. IMPORTANT: DO NOT provide links to pirated software, or software that is not hosted by the software vendor (without permission from the vendor), as that will not be tolerated by MSFN per rules 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d. The information listed here is subject to change at any time, so while something might be supporting Vista when you view the list, it could very well stop supporting it the day after, so bookmarking the list and checking back every so often is encouraged if you make use of this list, whether you're a Windows Vista/Server 2008 system admin or enthusiast. Quick links: Windows 95 version of this thread • Windows 98 version of this thread • Windows 2000 version of this thread *NOTE: It is unknown why this occurs, but clicking on the following update links may randomly send you to an "Error 404" page. If this occurs, just refresh the page until the proper download page appears. Download Service Pack 1 update: Vista 32 bit • Vista 64 bit Download Service Pack 2 update: Vista/2008 32 bit • Vista/2008 64 bit Download Platform Update: Vista 32 bit • Vista 64 bit • Server 2008 32 bit • Server 2008 64 bit *If your system has no service packs installed, SP1 must be installed before installing SP2, as SP2 is not cumulative, meaning that it only includes updates released since SP1, not before SP1. If you're running Windows Server 2008, SP1 is not needed as Server 2008 was released in conjunction with SP1, so Microsoft already included the update in all Server 2008 installation media sold since release. Fix Windows Update getting stuck on "Checking for Updates" in Windows Vista (video by me) Get security updates for Windows Vista until 2020 (video by me; big thanks to MSFN user greenhillmaniac for maintaining the Server 2008 update repository). This bug renders Windows Vista on Haswell quite unstable, and using it in a productive or business environment is strongly discouraged. In addition to this, Intel HD graphics 4200 and later drivers, as well as USB 3.0 drivers are not available for Haswell machines running Vista, so upgrading to Windows 7 on Haswell systems is encouraged to receive proper support. 2. Hello All, I am learning all I can about networking and at 48 yrs old, I am beginning college next month for studies in just that. In the meantime, I'm trying to learn all I can on my own, as well as apply as much as possible to a hands on experience. A couple days ago I configured Windows Server 2008 R2 for Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and File Services roles within my home network of 3 machines and two devices; successfully too....... What I am attempting to do is set up a VPN to enable a select few family members to some of my media. I have installed Networking Policy and Access Services including Routing and Remote Access. Beginning the configuration, selecting VPN & NAT, I come to the decision of what interface to use. This is where I'm stuck. This server is on a laptop with only 1 LAN and 1 WLAN connection. The installed roles (mentioned above) use the local area connection that's assigned a static IP outside the DHCP pool used for the domain users. It's connected to a home user type router/WAP with which DHCP is disabled. The other listed is the WLAN which states DHCP yet does not show up in ipconfig /all. Should I use the interface that all else is on or the wireless? If wireless, do I have to config the router to assign a IP to the wireless or use static? Why is the wireless interface not showing up in ipconfig or the router? I know this is newbie stuff yet any help would be greatly appreciated.
