Unattended Install Win2kpro Install Problem

Hi, was wondering if anyone can tell me how integrate my 3rd party raid controller drivers into the installation.

I have tried everything with no joy :

MS Recommended way :

$OEM%/Textmode

and unattended.txt

which after 7 hours of trying refused to work after trying putting the drivers everywhere

then i found the thread on the unattended xp board about using txtsetup.sif and the i386 folder

which now seemingly crashes the textmode setup as my computer resets itself when i "press any key to enter setup"

any ideas what is going wrong or what else i can try?

can post contents of relevant files if needed

Cheers

nak.

This is what I did to add drivers to my Automated install of Windows 2000 Pro.

It works great as long as you have the catalog files,.inf files, and drivers.

Here is my example for loading a network card.

I create a $oem$ directory in the I386 directory of my install source.

Next I had to copy my drivers into the $oem$\$1\drivers\nic

You can call your folder what ever you want but I used NIC.

I then added the path for the drivers as follows in the unatted.txt file.

OemPnPDriversPath=drivers\nic;

There is a length of how long this path can be so the shorter it is the better.

One of the cool things once your done with the install you will have a c:\drivers\nic on the system.

This will work for you because I have been doing this kind of work for the last 2 months at my job.

Cheers

Talking about unattended ..... My question is where do I put the winnt.sif file inside my installation cd?

That is the only thing bothering me .... I have no clue where exactly I have to put this. I don-t want t ohave a Installation CD, and diskette everytime I want to install something ... :/

Thats so not right AaronXP.

If you got a Multiboot cd with XP, W2K, Win2003 and so on, you must do the winnt.sif into the bootfolder. For Example, if you want to boot w2k and have a bootfolder wpro (where are the files from your bootdiskimages), you must copy the winnt.sif into the wpro folder.

:) Hope I can help
