tVdP, yeah, reading descriptions :)
Next time keep Manual Install component. You can still boot from that cd once the ISO is made, setup.exe isnt' the only way to install Vista.

:thumbup
Thanx
In fact the boot of the iso (without setup.exe) is recognised on my recents workstations but not on an older laptop.
(I'm thinking: is that a way to talk to a supastar like Nuhi?...)
Thank you very much for all you did for me and many others I did work on their machines in the last years
Merci beaucoup!
Amicalement.
Thierry

Really nice! I've earlier used nLite for many installations, and when I was going to install Vista again I decided to try vLite. I pressed the installation DVD (or rather CD) down to 675 MB!!! and it only took about 21 minutes to install, from i pressed a key to start from CD untill I could log in. :thumbup

Yeah, this one rocks again.
Only thing that Creative SoundBlaster Audigy/X-Fi Users should definitely not remove: Multimedia Class Scheduler. After having removed that service, I got crashing sound everytime there was any CPU Usage from another app than Winamp. Now I made a new Image and left the Multimedia Class Scheduler in it. 650 MB Image, fully working Vista Business x86. Thank you nuhi!!!

Any news regarding Windows Server 2008? Will there be any problems?

Dynaletik, interesting that it was so crucial. I removed it on E-mu card and haven't experienced any issues so far. Aside that while jumping in the video now there is a tiny tick where before it was silent, or was it :)
Thx for the info, will see about adding that to the description.

TheTripleX, only issue that I know of is that Adding Features might break because of removed component(s). So if you don't add any features throught the Control Panel it's fine. When it comes out of beta and it get more users I'll fix that. Don't get me wrong I did try but it took too much time and I left it for later because it's not a priority.

I think the sound crackling thing does not come up if you have got good drivers. But I already searched Creative forums and very many users get sound crackling, even if they did not use vLite (as many of them of course do not know vLite). It seems to be a driver problem, but I knew before 1.0 RC and had 1 crackling in 1 hour. With Multimedia Class Scheduler removed I got it all few seconds, that is not what I bought this soundcard for, but it isn't your fault. It's Creative's fault I think. (I always use actual drivers, but even using older drivers did not fix it.)

I want to add components. I want to add the the NAT role and this is why I'm asking.

Hanschke, I see now what you meant, preinstalled. I'll see about adding capture support after the 1.0 final.

Jeronimo, haven't seen that one, I install the downloaded version, directx_jun2007_redist.exe, works just fine. But I will check that web version if it is maybe possible to fool it, thx.

I spend another 2 to 3 houts investigating with Process Monitor, but no luck. It should after accepting the license show which files will need to be downloaded, but it only gives the error.
Hope you have more success. Here again the error from DirectX.log:

Jeronimo, those don't show much. Why bother, just install the DX redistributable, if you didn't already and doing that to run a game. Trial and error unless the log shows more.

Well first the Redist pack is way bigger than what the DirectX web setup downlaods and secondly if there is 1 problem, there could be more. I would not like other programs having such issues and this could be the case. Because it is a program from Microsoft that does not work, it troubles me even more.
Point is: if I keep IE with vLite and install Vista then dxwebwetup works. If IE is removed, then it does not.

If you know why then you can keep IE and problem solved. I can't promise that it can be bypassed as a dependency.

If something does not work that is supposed to work, then it is a bug. If you state it is a dependancy issue, then maybe include (fix) it as such.

I can understand you do not want to investigate just because 1 user has issues with it and you can spend your time on something else helping more users. Still it should be solved (1 way or the other) in my opinion.

I do not know how to explain better.

How do you know if it's supposed to work without IE...that's my point.

Anyway I tried it and it is same with or without IE, it runs, I press I agree...next...it says it's installed, finish.

Do I need internet connection for a full test, what do you get?

It can only be run once, after that the update it installed and will not make connection again. If you run it on a clean Windows with and without IE removed by vLite, then it will only work when IE is still present. IF IE is removed , you will get an errormessage and no possibility to continue and download/install DirectX.

Some parts of DirectX 9 are not present under Vista and for this you need to perform an additional installation.

Hold on, I removed all and no error message.
Can you please attach a preset which produces that error message when used on a clean Vista please.

Sure, no problem. I only changed the location under the driver-section (privacy reason).
