Is it possible to take the resources from the Win98 shell32.dll
and add the to the Win95 shell32.dll for speed purposes
using a tool like resource hacker or whatever

win95 shell32.dll is already faster than win98 shell32.dll
but certain programs don't work with 95shell32.dll
so if you add 98 resources to 95 shell it will have speed
and able to use apps that requires a newer shell
just a thought

i thought 98lite was meant to have made something like that.
a shell32.dll from 95 that was linked to the shell32.dll from 98 so that you could retain the functions of 98 even though using 98lite but ive never seen it ive only heard of it

Yes, you can use different shells in win98Lite. I don't use that feature though.

I'd really recommend trying this program out.

The freeware version (trial version which after a while does not give you some of the advanced features) is excellent IMHO. I used sometimes to have problems with defrag, hated the active desktop feature of win98SE, and wanted permanently to get rid of Outlook Express and other M$ stuff. All these issues were resolved and/or enabled by using 98Lite. No need to reinstall win98SE if it's already installed. Just run 98Lite afterwards.

Try it out from here:

yes 98lite works well but you do need some 95 files to get rid of ie completey,
but i have to say outlook express was never compulsary,
you can choose not to install it in the win98 setup

sleekv2.exe is the patched 95 shell from litepc for 98 compatability
