If you are saying what I think you are, you can't just point it to c:\windows.. you have to have a local copy of your Vista installation media for it to build off of.
Edit: and here's the process. Put your DVD in, and hold shift or otherwise stop the autorun. Start vlite, and when is asks for the installation source, point it to the DVD drive. It'll then prompt you and ask you where you want to store the files on your hard drive (2-4GB worth of them). It'll take a while to copy over.
Edit2: While that should be the correct process, it breaks when I try it. I get an error about not being able to copy all files. I think it's because I'm in Vista trying to do it, and Vista knows too much and doesn't want me copying files off the DVD to make an autounattended installation
