I have 2 different ISP and i want to connect to my LAN, how i able to config so that when surf net or FTP or data transfer able to go though this 2 WAN with out using Load balancing hardware? Or it is i able to set for surf net go to ISP 1 and P2P go to ISP 2????? And what is statis routes use for in router???? Thanks. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
rendrag Posted July 23, 2007 Share Posted July 23, 2007 to connect 2 ISP's to 1 network, you'll need a router that has a failover, or WAN2 port. The router itself may be able to be configured to specify which protocol goes to which ISP, but most likely the 2nd LAN port would act as a failover in case WAN1 failed Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

cluberti Posted July 23, 2007 Share Posted July 23, 2007 Yes - load balancing or auto failover of multiple WAN interfaces is much more complicated than it sounds, especially if your upstream provider(s) are not involved providing CEF or Multilink PPP for your interfaces (and if they are, you're probably using higher-end Cisco routing equipment anyway).
