MagicAndre1981
All Shell32 Updates for Vista are causing this error after modifing the source with vLite. The only known workaround is to integrate shell32.dll fixes into a new DVD.
nuhi
It's some specific modification, not all. I managed to go to the half the ISO size and the hotfix still works.

YACO
If I integrate the Hotfix into the Vista-DVD and then vLite and install it, it works! No error, but copying files takes shorter, so the hotfix got installed. This may be a question for another thread but I wasn't able to find it. How can you integrate hotfixes into vista DVD before running vlite?I have just installed another version vLite version without removing the Performance and Reliability components... I'll let you guys know how it goes...
Solivagus
This might be an issue with the vlite edit thing, as I have yet to find another site that has someone saying they have these problems. A de-activated service or removed component seems the most likely cause. If this is the case perhaps we should all post our last_session.ini and wether or not your vista compatibility and reliability pack works with it. We could narrow it down then, this is probably a good idea anyway because it would give Nuhi a better idea of what SP1 components are necessary (dependencies etc.) as the changes necessary in SP1 affect some pretty basic stuff so might require certain things.StatusProblems with renaming and moving files/foldersOn startup (never any other time that i've encountered) I get the following error:"Explorer.exe - Application ErrorThe Instruction at 0x09bb0000 referenced memory at 0x09bb0000. The memory could not be read."The address seems to change, I can't remember hexadecimal strings so you'll have to excuse me for that. Dynaletik
@ YACO: I did it with this utility: Vista Update Integrator. But it is still beta and needs the WAIK installed!
nuhi
Found the issue, I can't believe that this was causing the issue. Certain reg entries must not be cleaned in the'HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FolderDescriptions'.Components which have this problem are:Game ExplorerPrinter SupportSidebarMedia SamplesWindows SearchSync CenterYou can remove all other and the KB938979 will work just fine.Fixed in the next version.Imagine how stupid this was, now gotta leave those entries there, good thing is that they don't matter once the component is removed, it was more of a cosmetic cleanup. The fix on the running machine probably would be to uninstall that hotfix, fill in all the default values in that reg key and reinstall the hotfix. So this Vista Hotfix Integrator its used before or after the vLiting process???

nuhi
mj084, I gave you the list, it's not "one of them", it's all of them from the list. All you need is peimg.exe and a batch script to integrate hotfixes.
YACO
You can remove all other and the KB938979 will work just fine.Fixed in the next version. Now I'm debating between reformatting now with updates preinstalled or waiting until next version of vlite comes out... any tips as to when this is coming out to help me decide? Ahhh nevermind... I can't wait anyway... I'll just format it now. Thanks for figuring it out so quickly though,-YACO
