the thing about it is i dont have vlite i have regular vista 32 bit oem and have this issue

just download the registry file on vlite.net that fixes it

In that case we can't help you, that is an MS bug. I already said that the vLite is not the only cause, we only found our solution, sorry but you'll have to wait a new hotfix release or something. Check Microsoft forums for a possible solution.

does that fix work if i dont have vlite instaled?i just have reg vista 32 bit oem.i tried everything to install that registry value and it wont go in

rudeboy, start a fresh with

autopatcher vista 2007 Jun update <=== all updates in one file
http://www.neowin.ne...howtopic=573575 <==autopatcher

DirectX 2007 June Update <== torrent to get full package

+ 2 hotfixes

then reg fixes

& burn all those file so youve got a disc that makes vista good

Vista is rather grand with all these updates

or atleast use edit, shame you dont have a chat room so users can get help from other users easier (keep the forum obviously but a link to a chat room)

well i downloaded and installed the patcher it did nothing,i still cant rename folders or install side gadgets

Hey nuhi, thanks for the fix.

I'd just like to add that is not only a KB938194/KB938979 issue. I have tried the "sp1 package" (which reaches around the KB9341xx fixes) and installed all those updates. After the reboot, renaming didn't work.

Thanks Nuhi. I have just run the regfie for my 32bit WinVista Ultimate and I could rename folders again right on the minute :)
