I personally install Foxit Reader and it's plugins from a batch file in a 7z SFX installer.

The file associations aren't set before you run Foxit Reader once, so i enable them during the install. Also i add some other reg entries to disable the adds shown in the upper right corner and also hides the big bookmark panel which blocks a big part of the screen. Please note that the reg entries contains fixed paths for where i am personally installing Foxit Reader : 'C:\Program Files\Foxit Reader\', and so if you preffer something else, then you need to change it accordingly.

Useful info, Martin. I use Foxit myself, and I also install using a SFX that I picked up somewhere off the web. (I think I pulled it from an addon at nLite.) I'm sure it'll come in handy. ;)

BTW, stop kissin' Xable's butt. He makes a great Update Pack, no doubt. But seriously, sometimes the way you gush over there makes me think you wanna be his girlfriend or somethin'! :P

Just wanted to add that the reg keys i posted in the first post of this thread, for setting up Foxit Reader as the default pdf reader on the system, isn't actually needed after all, since the Foxit Reader executable(not the installer!) features a '-Register' command-line switch, which does just that.

Other than that, then the new versions of Foxit Reader comes by default with a couple of big bloated toolbars, which IMHO takes up to much screen-estate, so here follows the captured reg entries needed for disabling the 'bookmarks' sidebar, enabling the option 'View > Toolbars > Hide toolbars' and disable the banner adds :

I then make a 7z sfx installer which runs the following batch file silently and where 'Foxit Reader.exe' and a couple of the free add-ons(JS, GDI and JPEG2K support) is placed in a subfolder named 'setup' :

hiho,

to make foxit the default viewer for pdf-files is used this simple way:

MAKE_DEFAULT_PDFVIEWER.CMD

ASSOC .pdf=FoxitReader.Document


For installing it, i use a rar-sfx

Here the options for my sfx

Shortcut=P, "FoxitReader.exe", "", "", "Foxit PDF Reader"

As i posted in my previous post in this thread, then the Foxit Reader executable supports a command-line switch for setting it up as the default pdf reader on the system :
