Has anyone ever thought about an MSFN irc channel? We could use efnet or quakenet, then people could ask questions and get responses really quickly :)

It's been done a few times. People come and go so quickly and never stay around and idle. :)

We might consider something again, using a java client rather than IRC, then set a time for a meet up, especially for Unattended Windows :)

I don't know how well it would work... NTFS has a channel and noone is ever there. They talk about it all the time in the forums and even advertise it all over the site. I think that a real-time chat function on the site might be better, but then the problem is that everything that is discussed does not end up on the site. The idea of the site is to document peoples problems so that others can learn from them, right? If you found a java chat client that would log the chat into a thread then that would work maybe.

Just my 2 cents...

We have this idea of Aarons on our forum and it works, but the only problem is everyone is on different time zones and thats a pain but apart from that it is ok :)

Yea, I don't think it would work...Even I would go to the old channel, but no one was ever there, so I just closed everything up and didn't idle...

keeping history with java client wouldn't really work.
ppl will post "hi, hey, yea, nice idea, nice going etc." and the history will be even longer than the posts...
I know last post was on 8 june but I just started exploring all the events of msnf forum :)
