F-PROT for DOS is here:
http://fprot.org/fr_english.php

latest update: 20.11.2008

Hi guys,
i have just powered up my ole AMD-K6 machine running Win98_SP1 after a downtime of almost a year. As antivirus thing i am running 'My Free Antivirus' by Smart PC Tools, you may 'google' it, OK, sorry we are on an MS premise, so you may BING it. ;-) That is running quite perfectly for me. Maybe anyone who tries it wants to post their experience feedback.
A big THANK YOU to all contributors. Let's keep it alive!

LAST - FREE - Pixia 4.60

I've tested Pixia 4.70j English version and 4.60k Japanese version. And I found 4.70 and above can't show image files on Win98se.

Latest Pixia English version is available from:
http://www.ne.jp/asa...ight/index.html

And old Japanese version is available from:
http://home.a00.itscom.net/pixia/

Is there any need to install this version 280 from 277, what I mean is will this work for google street view or anything, what is it's purpose, is it just for security reasons?

Yeah thanks, I just found that out just after posting that question.

I un-installed first then installed fresh.

Thank you for those recent post updates.

Do you use this new opera? I suppose we will just need to wait and see if anyone reports anything bad about it on Windows 98.

Opera Desktop Team already fixed opera.dll related error in 10.61 RC2, so it can work without KernelEX.

Works fine on my machine without KernelEx enabled.

LAST - SHAR - FTP Voyager v13.0.0.5 --- http://ftp.rz.uni-wu...ftp/fvsetup.exe

FTP Voyager v13.0.0.5 of 1-Nov-2006 (shareware) is the last version and built for Win98. The main advantage of FTP Voyager is its ease of use and a near-zero learning curve. v13.0.0.5 is very hard to find. The program description of v13.0.0.5 can be found at "http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/7925&vid=354224&mode=info" A Registration ID (= key) of some older versions (e.g. of v12.3) also works with v13.0.0.5 Home page: http://www.ftpvoyager.com

Here some usage notes: The file ftpvoyager.ftp contains the FTP access codes (e.g. user name, password, etc) to FTP sites/web servers. With the setting "Automatic ASCII" [-> Tools -> Transfer Mode -> Automatic ASCII] CR and CR/LF gets handled properly. FTP Voyager v13.0.0.5 can be kept from calling home by blocking IP 97.88.242.106 port 80 for ftpvoyager.exe.

FTP Voyager has been my favorite FTP program for the past 12 years.

Found a couple of games which still work on Windows 98 RIP - Last Hero and Oil Blue. They seems relatively modern.

Just noticed it says Recommended configuration for Opera:* Windows XP or later, how do we know it works on Windows 98?

I am thinking of giving up on Firefox and going for Opera, what is it like on Windows 98? do bookmarks work well within it, and does it ever crash?

Reason for me changing browser is that Blogger are using Flash to upload pics from the computer, and of course Flash 9.283 does not work with it, and I was thinking that perhaps a new browser may help.

If I do go for Opera will I need to install all new Adobe Flash players again? I ask as I had to install the new 9.283 twice, once for Firefox 2, and again for Internet Explorer 6.

It works fine here, and for other MSFN members. For me there's only one noticeable problem, which is that there is no flashing cursor within input boxes (such as the one I'm typing in now) to mark your place within text. This is a bit annoying, certainly, but not anything that prevents me using easily the best browser currently available for Windows 9x.

No. Opera will detect your 'Firefox', non_IE Flash installation, and will use that.

Thanks, does it easily import all bookmarks? and can it be un-installed easy if I don't like it for any reason without causing problems to my current Firefox.

Also I take it that it works without KernelEx being installed too?
