I want to hook up composite av and s-video devices to my monitor and since it only has a vga input, i thought the easiest way would be to get a tv tuner that has these inputs.
All i want is simple tv functionality with inputs for s-video and composite av (WITH the red and white audio plugs). it can plug into a pci or pci-e x1 slot. I'd rather not go with a usb one since my desk is cluttered enough as it is...
I'm looking to spend £15 to £30 and from any good site that ships to the uk... thanks for any suggestions.
Btw, it has to have drivers/be compatible with vista x64.

The KWorld TVBox 1680ex is a cheap and pretty good solution for you.

Here you can see some pics ;).

Thanks for the info. 1 question, is it a reliable product? i'm just making sure.
and also i can't find the pal version for sale, let alone for sale anywhere online in the uk. have you got any links?

any other suggestions? like i said, i'd rather it was a pci/pci-e x1 tuner that accepts these inputs rather than anything else, but a good vga box will be fine.

I just gave you the link! :P

http://www.kworld.co...retobuy.aspx#y5

There, check that out...

I also think I posted to fast, I see you want video input also to your PC, that would require another device. Forget PCI-E when you look at max 60US$, you will find nothing worth above a PCI card in that price range. The box I linked has no USB but kWorld has versions that have USB. Let me check it out and post it in a few minutes ;).

By the way, the brand is okay, I sell it and people are happy with it. Most buy the external box so they don’t need the computer tuned on when they watch TV or play a game on an xBox for example.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/82616 looks good but it doesn't have any info on input plugs and it's not listed on kworld's website :S the reviews also say it's not vista compatible :(

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/54154 has good reviews and has the inputs i need. but it doesn't have vista x64 drivers :( of course, this is no big problem since i'm dual booting with my previous xp 32bit install but it would be nice to have a product like that that has vista x64 drivers.
the price is excellent on that thing so i am inclined to get it.
but are there any other suggestions? the kworld products on scan and ebuyer seemed pretty limited.. :(

AverMedia has cheap ones too, and there isn’t really that much difference between those brands. ATi has new HD cards out but they are way more expensive. Hauppauge and Pinnacle are big players too!

eBay could have good prices, check them out ;).

unfortunately, eclipse computers don't have good reviews so i think i'll pass on the avertv 203 :( i can't find it anywhere else in the uk either :(

shame, it would have been a good card, especially for the price :(

hauppage's wintv radio looks good but i can't find it anywhere... and none of the pinnacle ones seem to have composite and s-video inputs.

unfortunately if it's on ebay it has to be buy it now since my parents won't let me bid for some weird reason. and http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll...o%3D1&fgtp= doesn't turn up many good results :(
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hauppauge-WIN-TV-PCI...VQQcmdZViewItem looks good but it's too near my price limit and i want to see if there's anything cheaper.
and the vc100 seems to have crap image quality if you watch the video input in realtime, which is what i need :( so that's out of the question.
